Restaurant known for 'buckets' and seafood to open two branches in Birmingham

Shrimp Shack is moving in to Birmingham city centre and Star City

A seafood restaurant known for seafood boils, halal mains and buckets of shrimp is opening two restaurants in Birmingham. Shrimp Shack is gearing up to open on Broad Street and Star City in the coming weeks.

Shrimp Shack has two venues in London already, in Streatham and Camden, and the Birmingham venues will be the first outside of the capital. The new openings are part of a bigger expansion for the brand, which has also set its sights on Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Luton.

The restaurant's menu features small plates, buckets of shrimp, seafood boils and burgers with sharing platters on offer as well as a few pasta dishes. It says dishes have 'South African flavours' and reviews online indicate 'big portions'.

The Broad Street venue is taking over the former Creams dessert shop unit, next door to Five Guys. No opening date has yet been confirmed but the brand has said that Star City should be open by December.

"But we won;t stop there! We're delighted to announce our expansion plans, with new Shrimp Shack locations coming soon to cities and towns across the UK. As the stars on the map suggest, we have our sights set on a variety of exciting destinations, from the bustling urban centres to the idyllic coastal towns.
