As colder weather approaches, the dilemma over when to switch on the heating intensifies, particularly with energy bills set to rise from October. With thriftiness in mind due to the impending Ofgem price cap increase, Brits are seeking affordable ways to stay warm.

Thankfully, Dunelm offers a budget-friendly way to heat your home without cranking up the central heating. Their 650W 5 Fin Oil Filled Radiator, now available for just £25, has been met with rave reviews from shoppers for its quick heating ability.

This compact heater from Dunelm boasts thermostatic controls and has garnered numerous five-star ratings. Many consumers have praised its effectiveness at staving off the chill while keeping a lid on energy costs, the Mirror reports.

Highlighting its efficiency, Dunelm advertises that it costs less than 19p for a full hour's use at current energy prices.

Offering enough warmth to comfortably heat a room, this nifty heater presents an economical alternative to using the main heating system. One highly satisfied customer commented: "This looks such a small unit, you wonder how good it will be - no need to worry! The heat output in an average bedroom, play room, snug or home office is brilliant."

Another user enthused that the compact but mighty appliance "really throws out warmth", saying it's ideal for "taking the edge off" during nippy winter mornings.

A fellow reviewer lauded: "Such an efficient heater for its size. Great extra source of heat and Smart Meter efficient too! " Vicky chimed in: "Light weight great for a small room heats up very quickly easy to move with handle."

Another customer found an alternate use for their heater, revealing: "I bought this because of it's small size for the winter months to go under my indoor clothes airer. It does a brilliant job and is just the right size to make a big difference to drying times."

However, the unit didn't receive universal acclaim. One critic said it "works well but only if you're sitting next to it", while someone else proposed it "could do with a longer plug".

An additional comment was less favourable: "Mine won't warm up even the smallest box room. It may, depending on the outside temperature, stop it dropping below zero. It might help in a greenhouse in spring, but I cant see where else it would help."

For those seeking more potent heating solutions, larger models are on offer though they tend to incur higher running costs. For instance, a £28 Convector Heater which runs at an estimated cost of 58p per hour.
