Aer Lingus has announced that it will operate a new direct route between Dublin and Nashville, Tennessee from next April, offering Irish holidaymakers the opportunity to visit the world-famous country music ‘Mecca’.

The airline’s new Airbus A321XLR will provide four weekly flights from April 12, with fares starting at around €455. Dublin is also set to serve as a hub for US travellers heading to other destinations across Europe.

Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus’ chief customer officer, said the airline was “thrilled” to connect Ireland directly with the capital of country music via the 8.5-hour air route.

“This direct route between Dublin and Nashville is a hugely exciting addition to Aer Lingus’ expanding North American network. This non-stop connection will strengthen the deep cultural, musical and business ties between Ireland and Tennessee,” she said.

“We know our Irish customers will be delighted to experience Music City’s electric atmosphere, while customers departing from Nashville enjoy a warm Irish welcome as they fly with Aer Lingus to Dublin.

“As well as offering direct flights from Nashville to idyllic Ireland, Aer Lingus also offers seamless connections to 22 captivating destinations across Europe.”

Meanwhile, President and CEO of Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp Deana Ivey said the city was looking forward to welcoming Irish travellers direct from Dublin for the first time.

“Strong musical traditions have connected Nashville and Ireland for many years, and we’ve been working with tour operators and media there to promote Music City for the past decade,” she said.

“This new Aer Lingus route will continue to open access to other key European markets, which is another reason we aggressively pursued nonstop service to Dublin this past year. We look forward to welcoming visitors from Ireland and beyond to experience the exceptional music, dining and vibrant culture that Nashville has to offer.”

Mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County Freddie O’Connell added that visitors from both sides of the Atlantic had a lot to look forward to once the service begins next April.

“I am thrilled to see Music City connect to the Emerald Isle and excited for Nashvillians and Dubliners to experience what each city has to offer – both our similarities and what makes us unique,” he said.

“Nashville’s increased travel options afford us the opportunity to show visitors all that makes Nashville such a vibrant and welcoming city – and for Nashvillians to experience the rich history of a city like Dublin.”
