It follows explosions of Hezbollah radios and blasts in booby-trapped pagers, setting the foes hurtling towards war.

Wednesday's walkie-talkie blasts came as Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant announced a "new phase in the war" against the Hamas militant group, adding that the "centre of gravity" is moving north with the deployment of a new military division.

In the latest attacks, at least 20 people lost their lives and over 450 were injured, authorities said, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
