A loaded shotgun was found by Kamloops Mounties last weekend inside a stolen pickup truck, police say, but the suspect got away.

According to Mounties, officers were called just after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, to a report of suspicious activity in the 200-block of Columbia Street.

“On scene, police located a GMC Sierra pickup truck reported stolen out of Barriere earlier that day,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

“A suspect emerged from a basement window on Third Avenue, which was followed by a foot pursuit and struggle. The suspect resisted arrest and escaped.”

Evelyn said investigators seized a loaded shotgun and a wallet that had recently been stolen nearby.
