'I tried Kim Kardashian’s salmon sperm skincare trick - it's made me look younger'

Dr Patrick Robson, also known as Dr Pat, has seen a spike in people trying 'fish sperm' facial treatments, particularly in men. The procedure involves injecting salmon-derived DNA into the skin

A 27-year-old man has tried and tested a rather bizarre 'salmon sperm hack' praised by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Aniston. Medically referred to as 'polynucleotide injectables', this treatment actually involves the DNA of fish sperm that's pumped into your face using a tiny needle.

Advocates suggest this will stimulate collagen production over the course of a few months, with the protein vital to keeping skin plump and youthful. But does it actually work?

Tommy Davison, a director of a large-scale restaurant in Manchester, gave it a go after noticing his skin looked 'tired and dehydrated'. He confessed he was sceptical at first but has since received 'countless compliments' about his appearance.

"I work long hours and start early, which affects my sleep and my skin," he said to Jam Press. "I had noticed my skin looking tired and dehydrated, and when I first heard about Vitaran Polynucleotides, I was sceptical, especially since I had tried other skin boosters before. But after researching the treatment and watching videos on Instagram and YouTube, I decided to give it a shot."

Tommy isn't alone in turning towards salmon sperm skincare either. Dr Patrick Robson – also known as Dr Pat - claims he's seen a 'growing number of people' trying this method to combat wrinkles and fine lines.

In fact, more than half of his clientele, including Tommy, are reportedly men - an 'unusual statistic in the aesthetics industry'. The expert at Manchester's King Street Grooming explained: "The potential is there to slow down the ageing process of the skin. We can't stop the natural ageing process but we can certainly delay it by enhancing skin vitality with treatments like this.

"By our 30s, collagen production starts to decline, and this procedure helps to stimulate the skin's cells to produce more collagen. People often feel they look younger as a result." Dr Pat, who specialises in non-surgical aesthetic treatments, explained the procedure works by injecting purified and sterilised polynucleotides from salmon or trout sperm into the skin.

These polynucleotides 'stimulate fibroblast cells to promote collagen production', working to increase cell turnover while enhancing the skin's elasticity. He went on: "This helps treat lines and wrinkles, improve skin hydration and even address acne and scarring.

"The treatment also reduces hyperpigmentation, redness and rosacea by affecting melanocytes in the skin, leading to a more even skin tone." Although it's a popular face treatment, the product can be used on any area of the skin.

The procedure itself is said to be 'very comfortable' and its effects last between nine to 12 months, with a minor top-up required to maintain results. Tommy also added: "Nowadays, people are looking for more organic and safer options.

"Years ago, everyone was obsessed with heavy fillers that didn’t age well. Knowing this treatment uses organic material brings peace of mind."
