Ahead of World Heart Day being observed today, noted city athlete, Vinod Pandey on Saturday urged people to dedicate at least an hour to their health everyday.

The purpose of this year's World Heart Day is to heighten awareness towards heart health and disseminate information regarding cardiovascular diseases, their causes, and encouraging people to take responsibility for their heart health.

Speaking on the eve of the event, Pandey, an keen cyclist and marathoner said, "cycling is a surefire way to keep the heart healthy as fitness is crucial to heart health."

Pandey described the heart as the most important part of the human body, and urged people to take all precautions to ensure the health of the organ.Giving nutrition tips, Pandey advocated the inclusion of berries, wholegrains and green leafy vegetables in everyday diet.

He stressed the need for the young to adopt a cardio exercise in their exercise routine and said that running significantly reduces heart risk.Cardio exercises, like running and cycling, catalyse weight loss, he said while appealing to people to bring positive changes to their lifestyle to achieve healthy heart goals.
