Ireland weather: Exact date snow may hit as Met Eireann warns of ‘wintry hazards’ and Arctic blast

Met Eireann have looked ahead to next week and have seen that Ireland could possibly be hit with “wintry hazards”.

They explained that there the country may receive hail, sleet and snow, with it expected to be “colder than average”.

The forecaster added that these conditions come from an Arctic maritime regime.

Between Monday, 18 November, to Sunday, 24 November, they see a change in Ireland’s weather, which has been quite mild lately.

Met.ie: “Colder than average with low pressure centred to the east dominating. Arctic maritime regime indicated with potential for wintry hazards including hail, sleet and snow. Rainfall amounts above average, especially near coasts, indicative of shower activity.”

The national forecaster explained that it will be “generally cloudy” during the rest of the week with patchy rain and drizzle. They see it “turning windy on Sunday”.

WX Charts, a weather forecasting website, also pinpointed snow falling in Ireland starting from Monday, 18 November and lasting most of the week on-and-off.

Fog will clear through this morning and early afternoon, as it becomes increasingly cloudy from the north. Some drizzle, mist and hill fog, mainly in the north and parts of the west. Sunny spells further south. Highest temperatures 9 to 13 degrees in light variable breezes.

Mostly cloudy with patches of mist and drizzle tonight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees in light northerly winds.

Thursday, 14 November

Mostly cloudy with a few spots of light rain and drizzle. Some limited brighter breaks also. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in a light northerly or variable breeze.

Continuing cloudy overnight with patchy light rain or drizzle on Thursday night. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees, with winds falling light and variable allowing mist and fog to develop.

Friday, 15 November

Cloudy for most with occasional rain and drizzle, turning persistent in the northwest in the late evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.

Remaining cloudy overnight with light rain gradually moving southeastwards on Friday night. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees, with light to moderate southwest to west winds.

Saturday, 16 November

Rain clears southwards through the morning and afternoon, with sunny spells and scattered showers developing from the northwest. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, with light to moderate westerly breezes.

Sunday, 17 November

Current indications suggest that will turn breezier on Sunday with sunny spells and scattered showers following widespread rain in the early hours of the morning. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, with fresh northwesterly winds developing.
