The simplest of six-letter codes accesses freebies at Tesco, it turns out. The supermarket giant's customers can snag some freebies with a clever trick that has been shared on social media.

By entering a little-known code on Tesco.com, the UK's largest supermarket is offering shoppers the chance to grab new products at no cost.

Simply head over to Tesco's website and type "sample" into the search bar to see a range of new items or variations of existing products that brands are eager for customers to test.

These brands are giving their goods away for free to spread awareness and gather consumer feedback on their latest offerings.

Even though the items appear in your online basket at a price tag of 1p, you won't be charged when it's time to checkout.

The shopping hack went viral after one bargain hunter shared their find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook. Alongside a picture of Fairy Platinum All in One dishwasher tablets, the shopper explained: "Don't know if this is common knowledge but when you are doing online shopping for Tesco you can type in the word SAMPLE and various available samples come up for you to choose for free."

Following the revelation, the post amassed more than 300 likes and upwards of 270 comments from fellow shoppers who were in the dark about this money-saving method.

While we've reached out to Tesco to obtain a comprehensive list of the brands involved in this sampling initiative, there has been previous mention of brands such as Fairy, Coca-Cola, and Foster's participating in the giveaway. We'll keep you updated as soon as we receive further details.

TikTok users have shared how they managed to get their hands on cans of 150ml Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Lemon, usually priced at 65p, Fairy Platinum 3 Dishwasher Tablets which typically cost from £5 and Foster's Proper Shandy Lager Beer, 440ml, which normally costs £3.75 for a pack of four, all completely free of charge.

However, there are certain conditions to be met in order to bag these 0p products.

These freebies are only available online and require you to be a Clubcard member.
