Marks & Spencer has pulled soups from stores that could contain metal. M&S, which is rivalled by Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and more, has recalled soups as it could contain small pieces of metal, it has confirmed this week.

Shoppers are encouraged not to eat it and instead return it to their nearest store. M&S said: "00641142 Smooth Butternut Squash Soup. Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously.

"Marks & Spencer is recalling smooth Butternut squash soup due Foreign Body risk please click here for more information." It said: "Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer, and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously. Marks & Spencer is recalling its Smooth Butternut Squash Soup for the potential presence of small traces of metal in a small number of packs."

M&S said: "Please do not consume this product. Any customers in possession of this product can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given. Only the displayed date code is impacted. No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused. For more information contact us on 03330148555"

Use by dates are 06/10/2024 and Barcode Number is 00641142. The Food Standards Agency added: "If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

"The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers."
