KUCHING (Oct 6): The Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) has extended its 50 per cent discount offer for overparking compounds until Dec 13.

Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng announced this extension yesterday, stating that it aims to provide the community with more time to settle their compounds.

“The 50 per cent discount offer was supposed to conclude on Sept 30, but in a bid to encourage people to clear the payment, we have decided to extend the offer until Dec 13,” he told his Facebook live session ‘Shall WEE Talk’.

Wee emphasised that the city council will continue to take action against those who fail to settle their overparking compounds, despite the extended discount period.

According to him, MBKS has already sent out more than 100 letters of demand to those who have yet to pay the overparking fees.

He said these letters, delivered by MBKS’ legal counsel, expect the recipients to comply with the demands.

“If they continue to ignore our letters of demand, we will not hesitate to take further legal action,” he added.

Wee also disclosed that another 100 letters of demand will be sent out by MBKS legal counsel next week.

He said these letters aim to urge individuals pay the overparking fees promptly to take advantage of the 50 per cent discount offer.

“If you have received our letter of demand, do settle your overparking compounds immediately to avoid facing legal action from MBKS,” he said.

He encouraged the community will take this opportunity and clear the overparking fees before or on Dec 13.

“We look forward to proactive collaboration from all to enjoy the discount offer as well as to fulfil their responsibility as the citizens.”
