Beefeater is giving away 50,000 free 8oz rump steaks to mark its 50th birthday.

To get the freebie, you need to purchase any main meal from the restaurant menu or Sunday menu. The steak will then come served with chips and peas. To claim your free steak, you need to fill out a form and enter your email address on the Beefeater website - you'll then be sent a code to your email address. This code can only be used once.

Beefeater is giving away free steaks until November 30 or until all 50,000 steaks have been claimed. Some meals are excluded from this offer, including breakfast, kids meals and anything from the lunchtime menu. It doesn't include any drinks, so this will be charged at full price, along with any additional sides you may want.

A spokesperson said: "Available to enjoy at Beefeaters nationwide, from Edinburgh to Essex, Cumbria to Cornwall, tuck into your free steak alongside dishes from Beefeater’s family-friendly menu – think dishes from the ’74 range such as the Chicken and Rib Combo; Surf & Turf Combo and Baconeater Burger, plus crowd-pleaser plates like Beer-Battered Fish and Chips; and the Chargrilled Fillet of Salmon and Vegetable Skewer. There’s something for every eater at Beefeater."

There is no maximum number of people that can be sat at your table for this offer, and multiple codes can be redeemed but for every additional free steak, another main meal must be purchased. It comes after parent company Whitbread, which runs Beefeater, Premier Inn and Brewer Fayre brands, saw total group sales increase by 1% to £739million for the three months to May 30, compared with the same period last year.

However, sales were 1% down year-on-year over the first seven weeks of the quarter. Dominic Paul, chief executive of the hospitality group, said: “Whilst the normal booking pattern means our forward visibility remains limited, our forward booked position is positive and we remain confident in the full-year outlook. This reflects a more encouraging trading performance in the UK, our strong commercial programme and increased cost efficiencies, as well as good progress in Germany.”

Mr Paul added that Whitbread is on track with the programme restructure its food and beverage business announced earlier this year, which will close or convert more than 200 restaurants and cut about 1,500 jobs. Whitbread will covert 112 of its restaurants into new hotel rooms, while a further 126 less profitable sites will be sold. Whitbread has already agreed to sell 21 of these restaurants for £28million.

The restaurant firms owned by Whitbread include Brewers Fayre, Beefeater, Bar+Block, Cookhouse Pub, Hub, Thyme, Table Table and Whitbread Inns. Whitbread currently has a total UK workforce of 37,000 people.
