Amazon has introduced a huge change to its deliveries ahead of Amazon Prime Day this week.

The global marketplace has expanded its Same Day Delivery service with three new areas now able to use the speedy delivery service. Aberdeen, Middlesbrough, and Plymouth have been added to the list, which has over 81 towns and cities in the UK. Other areas offering the service in the UK include Greater London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, and Liverpool.

The move comes ahead of the retailer's second Prime Day event of the year. This Tuesday and Wednesday (October 8 and 9) Amazon will be slashing prices of hundreds of thousands of products on its site for Prime Members. The deals span all categories, including tech, fashion, beauty, home, and more, often with some of the lowest prices you'll see all year. Typically, there are thousands of discounts across leading brands, including tech giants such as LG and Bose and household names like Shark and Tefal.

In the UK, you can become a Prime member for £8.99 a month or £95 for the year. Students and young adults aged 18-22 can get 50% off Prime in the UK, with a six-month trial for £4.49 per month or £47.49 for the year

Prime Members get unlimited Same-Day and Overnight Delivery on qualifying orders above £20, if it is below. then a £1.99 fee is applied. The retailer says you should try and order your items before midday - or 1pm in Scotland - to qualify for same day delivery. Items which qualify for same day delivery are marked with "Today by 7pm" or "Today by 10pm". Same day delivery costs £5.99 per delivery for all eligible items, for non-Prime members.

To promote the new changes, the global marketplace has teamed up with Olympic medalists Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes. Dina, who picked up a silver medal in the women’s 4 x 100m relay in Paris this summer, and Zharnel, who picked up a bronze in the men’s 4 x 100m relay, starred in a film where they delivered Amazon packages to unsuspecting customers as fast as they could. Earlier this year, Amazon announced it had set a new PB for Prime members in the UK by delivering its fastest order within 75 minutes.

John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager, Amazon added: "Prime Big Deal Days will offer Prime members a wide selection of deals across some of our most popular items. We have had some help kicking it off from Britain’s fastest-ever 100-metre athletes as our delivery gets even faster – and we’re expanding our Same-Day Delivery to even more cities as we aim to beat our own personal best of 75 minutes from order to delivery.”
