A Plymouth-based insurance company has been given an award of excellence. Insurance DataLab is delighted to have won the Data Analytics Excellence Award at the national Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards 2024, presented at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel by comedian Mark Watson.

The judges praised its insight platform for “doing something new in a space that has previously only been occupied by old incumbents”, adding: “[Insurance DataLab] brings a fresh lens to data that the insurance market needs and wants. It is unique and the benefits of the proposition were immediately clear.”

Insurance Times editor Katie Scott explained that the Awards are about recognising “a new breed of innovative best practice”. Following the firm’s Best Market Intelligence Platform’ accolade at the Worldwide Finance Awards, Insurance DataLab is delighted to once again be recognised for excellence in innovation.

Insurance DataLab co-founder Matt Scott said: “Historically it’s been very difficult to find credible, digestible, and comparable information on the performance of insurance companies. By combining our knowledge of the market with new technology, we’ve been able to develop an innovative benchmarking solution that is providing exactly that, across a wide range of metrics to provide a 360-degree view of company performance”.

Fellow co-founder Dan King added: “We’re totally focused on helping clients to make better data-driven decisions and are incredibly proud to receive this recognition.”

Insurance DataLab is also a finalist in the ‘Excellence in Technology – Data Provider’ category in the main Insurance Times Awards with the winner to be announced on 4th December in a ceremony at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel.
