An award-winning Scottish fish and chip shop has unveiled a limited-edition Christmas menu.

With November in full swing and the festive period on the horizon, Cromars Classic Fish and Chips has announced a range of special Christmas-themed dishes. The St Andrews chippy, which was crowned Scotland’s Best East Coast Fish Supper at the 2023 Scotland’s Fish & Chip Awards, describes itself as the "best fish and chips in Scotland" on its website.

Cromars' Christmas supper menu will include crispy battered turkey, pigs in blankets, classic stuffing, crunchy Brussels sprouts, seasoned carrots, and all the trimmings. It will be served with gravy, cranberry sauce, and golden chips.

Meanwhile, the Fife chippy will also be serving a festive dessert in the form of battered mince pie. The crispy treat, which is a reference to deep-fried Mars bars, is served with warm custard and can be paired with a rich hot chocolate and a shot of Bailey’s.

The special festive menu will be available throughout December. It will be sold alongside Cromars’ existing best-sellers such as battered haddock, Scottish scampi, and smoked haddock and mozzarella fish cakes.

Owner of Cromars Wendy Napthine-Frame commented: "We love finding new and novel ways to excite our customers by reinventing traditional fish and chip shop dishes."

Earlier this year, Cromars became Scotland’s first dog-friendly fish and chip shop with the launch of a dedicated menu for pooches. The chippy's dog-friendly menu is priced at £2.00 and includes beef sausages and ‘puppucinnos’, with 50 per cent of all sales donated to the Scottish SPCA.

Napthine-Frame added: "Following the success of our dog-friendly menu earlier this year, we’re confident our customers will enjoy our festive menu, which puts a fun, crispy, golden twist on a family-favourite tradition and brings a little Christmas cheer to the holiday celebrations."

As reported by the Daily Record last month, Cromars is also among the nominees at the Scottish Fish & Chip Awards 2024. The chippy will compete with more than 20 other eateries for the Best Chip Shop (East) prize.
