In the top 10 compact SUVs sales chart in H1 FY2025, Tata Punch stood at the top with Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx behind

In the sales leaderboard of the top 10 compact SUVs for the first half of the current financial year, Tata Punch took the lead, surpassing the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx. The Punch recorded a total of 1,01,820 units sold in the first six months, compared to 72,626 units in the same period last year, marking a year-on-year volume growth of 40.1 per cent.

The Tata Punch distinguished itself as the sole SUV to surpass the one lakh sales milestone during this period. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza secured the second spot with 93,659 units sold, up from 81,928 units last year, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 14.3 per cent.

The Fronx has emerged as a strong performer for Maruti Suzuki, achieving 73,841 units sold in the first half of this fiscal year, up from 63,477 units in the same period last year, marking a year-on-year growth of 16.3 per cent. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon saw a dip, finishing fourth with 72,350 units compared to 78,975 in H1 FY2024, showing a decline of 8.3 per cent.

The Hyundai Venue followed in fifth place with 56,521 units sold. In H1 2024, the compact SUV recorded 65,375 units which led to a decline of 10.8 per cent. The second generation Venue is currently under development and it will likely be launched by the middle of 2025 with an assortment of revisions inside and out.

In the first half of FY2025, the Kia Sonet ranked as the sixth most popular compact SUV in India, recording 38,618 units sold, down from 45,852 units the previous year, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 15.7 per cent. The Mahindra XUV 3XO saw significant growth, finishing in seventh place with 50,501 units sold compared to 29,767 units last year, achieving a year-on-year increase of 69.6 per cent.

The Hyundai Exter came in eighth ahead of Mahindra Thar with 41,938 unit sales. The off-road SUV managed a total of 34,782 units in the first six months of this FY. The new entrant, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, ranked tenth with 13,496 units.
