Srinagar, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club has expressed optimism and extended a warm welcome to the NC-Congress alliance for their victory and forming a new government.

Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club, voiced the sector’s enthusiasm and expectations. “As the hospitality sector’s representative, I extend my warmest congratulations to the new government. This electoral mandate comes at a crucial juncture for Kashmir’s tourism industry,”

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the sector, Chaya elaborated, “The hospitality sector has weathered numerous challenges in recent years, and we see this political transition as a beacon of hope for our industry. The formation of a stable government is particularly significant for the tourism ecosystem, which requires consistent policy support and strategic vision.”

The tourism industry, a cornerstone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, has faced various hurdles in recent years, including security concerns, infrastructure limitations, and the global pandemic.

Elaborating on the sector’s expectations, Chaya provided insights into the industry’s role in the regional economy and its growth potential. “Our industry directly employs thousands and indirectly supports countless more families across the region. We are optimistic that the new administration will prioritise tourism infrastructure development, ease of doing business, and create a more conducive environment for both domestic and international tourists,” he said.

The Chairman’s remarks highlight key areas where the hospitality sector seeks government support, including infrastructure development, policy reforms, and initiatives to attract a diverse range of tourists. These measures, according to industry experts, could significantly boost Kashmir’s appeal as a premier tourist destination.

Secretary General, Hoteliers Club, Tariq Rashid expressed hope that the new government will implement policies that address longstanding issues such as connectivity, promotional activities, and skill development in the hospitality sector.
