Registered unemployment down 6% in August, compared to Aug 2023

Registered unemployment totaled 843,542 persons in August, down 6% from August 2023 and down 0.6% in comparison with July 2024, Public Employment Service (DYPA) said in a report released on Friday.

The report said that a 53.7% of registered unemployed (453,306) were long-term unemployment, and 263,599 (31.2%) were men and 579,943 (68.8%) women.

The 30-44 age group recorded the highest number of unemployed (277,787 or 32.9%). Among the country's regions, Attica and Central Macedonia recorded the highest numbers of registered unemployed (303,543 and 168,369 respectively). The number of people receiving unemployment benefits totaled 176,931 in August.
