Hyundai fends off Mahindra challenge in October as Tata beaten again

by India Today Auto Desk · India TodayHyundai Motor India remained the country's second-largest passenger vehicle (PV) manufacturer in terms of volume in October 2024 by registering its third highest-ever monthly wholesales since inception. The company fended off the challenge from Mahindra & Mahindra, which was again ahead of Tata Motors.
Hyundai sold 55,568 units in the domestic market during the month against 54,504 units by Mahindra. Tata clocked PV wholesales of 48,131 units.
In September 2024, Hyundai sold 51,101 units, Mahindra 51,062 units and Tata 41,063 units.
Hyundai also recorded its best-ever monthly SUV volume at 37,902 units in October 2024, driven by the popular Creta, which alone clocked its highest-ever monthly wholesales at 17,497 units.
The SUV contribution reached a mammoth 68.2% in Hyundai's domestic volumes during the month. Apart from the Creta, the company offers SUVs like the Exter, Venue, Alcazar and Tucson.
Besides, the Creta-maker witnessed a growth in CNG penetration, achieving the highest-ever monthly CNG wholesales at 8,261 units with a contribution of 14.9% to the domestic wholesales in October 2024.
Other than SUVs, the company sells hatchbacks like the Grand i10 Nios and the i20 and sedans like the Aura and the Verna. It also has an electric vehicle (EV), the Ioniq 5.
