Tesco has announced the specific date when customers can reserve their Christmas delivery slot.

The retail giant confirmed that shoppers can schedule their festive food delivery from the start of next month, with some customers being granted early access. Those who subscribe to an annual delivery pass - either the Anytime Delivery Saver scheme or Click+Collect plan - will have priority, with slots becoming available from 6am on Tuesday, November 5.

Slots for the remaining customers will be accessible a week later at 6am on Tuesday, November 12, which is a week earlier than the previous year. However, if you want to get a head start, you can still register for the appropriate delivery plan by Monday, November 4.

Tesco advises that customers who join one of its delivery plans can opt for either a six-month or a 12-month plan. Six-month plans are priced at £4.99 per month - totalling £29.94 - for off-peak times, or £7.99 per month - amounting to £47.94 overall - for anytime plans.

Click and collect is priced at £2.49 per month, equating to £14.94, reports the Mirror.

For annual plans, prices commence at £3.99 for off-peak, which totals £47.88 for the year, and £6.99 for the anytime plan, amounting to £83.88 annually. With the off-peak plan, you can have home delivery for any available slot after 3pm, while with the anytime plan, you can choose any available slot throughout the day, including same-day delivery.

Tesco has announced that shoppers could pocket an annual saving of approximately £176 compared to standard delivery charges. The supermarket giant also highlighted that customers can accumulate Clubcard points through their Delivery Saver subscriptions and even pay for the plan using Clubcard vouchers.

In preparation for the festive rush, Tesco has bolstered its delivery service by introducing "thousands" of additional slots in the fortnight before Christmas, thanks to the addition of 60 new vans to its fleet. Tom Denyard, Managing Director of Tesco Online, expressed his enthusiasm: "We're looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season. As we help customers plan ahead for their Christmas shop this year, we are excited to be providing increased capacity with thousands of extra slots available in the fortnight leading up to Christmas Day."

He further encouraged customers to take advantage of the Delivery Saver scheme, especially during the holiday period: "And there is no better time to sign up to a convenient Delivery Saver plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings. Delivery Saver plans not only give you early access to slots this Christmas, but they can also save you an amazing £176 a year on delivery or collection fees."

Additionally, Tesco has expanded the reach of its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, ensuring that even on Christmas Eve, customers will have access to thousands more slots for those last-minute purchases or overlooked items needed for the Christmas Day celebrations.
