Emergency services raced to the scene near Llanbrynmair, Powys, after a pair of passenger trains collided into each other on the Cambrian line at 7.29pm.

The incident has taken place in the Talerddig area of Powys and all services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth have been cancelled, Transport for Wales said. Emergency services including paramedics, firefighters and police are at the scene

The crash happened near the village of Llanbrynmair, in Powys, at around 19:30 BST on Monday.

All lines are currently closed between between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth after two trains reportedly collided on the Cambrian line just outside Llanbrynmair.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or footage of the incident to make it available.

The incident happened after the driver failed to stop for police on the A71 on Monday at 1.20am.

The North East Ambulance Service received a call at 7.39am this morning to reports of a crash on the A19 in South Tyneside.

Emergency services found the woman in a 'serious condition' when they arrived at Bescot Stadium
