Several districts in Andhra Pradesh are facing continuous heavy rainfall, prompting the state government to declare holidays for schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in affected areas. Schools across districts such as Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, and Prakasam will remain closed until October 17, 2024. Residents in Tugo district have also requested similar closures due to the adverse weather conditions.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains across Andhra Pradesh till Thursday. This is due to a low-pressure system forming over the South Bay of Bengal, which is expected to strengthen and move toward the coast, intensifying rainfall across the state.

According to IMD reports, districts such as Krishna, Bapatla, Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati, and Chittoor are likely to experience significant rainfall, with wind speeds reaching up to 65 kilometers per hour by Thursday. In addition, Sri Satyasai, Annamaiya, and YSR districts are expected to face very heavy downpours.

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued early warnings to district collectors, urging them to prepare for potential flooding in low-lying areas. Fishermen have been advised to stay off the coast due to dangerous sea conditions. The authorities have also instructed local officials to ensure public safety, particularly in flood-prone regions, by keeping the community informed and prepared for emergencies.
