Phone robbers die in motorcycle crash while fleeing in Mandalay

Two men who stole a phone at knifepoint in Mandalay died in a motorcycle crash while attempting to escape on September 26 at around 7:00 pm.

The incident took place at the corner of 64th Street and 40th Street in Maha Aung Myay Township where a couple was waiting in their car to pick up their child from school.

The husband, who stepped out of the car to take a phone call, was approached by two men on a motorcycle. One of the men grabbed his phone and when the victim resisted, he was slashed in the head with a knife.

The robbers fled on their motorcycle but the couple pursued them but car. The chase ended near 63rd and 35th Street and  36th Street, where the robbers motorcycle crashed. Both men fell, sustained fatal head injuries and died at the scene.
