Where To Pre-Order PS5 Pro

Pre-orders for PS5 Pro have now started to appear at a range of participating retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Currys, and of course PS Direct.

You can order one below (we'll update this page with links to other retailers once more pre-order options appear):

  • USA
  • UK
  • Standard
  • 30th Anniversary

Buy PS5 Pro Accessories

If you manage to get your hands on a PS5 Pro, you'll probably want to also consider grabbing any accessories you might need.

The PS5 Pro doesn't include a disc drive, so if you want to play physical games, you'll need to buy one separately. It also doesn't include a vertical stand – again, you'll need to buy one separately.

Do You Get Any Games with PS5 Pro?

Like all PS5 consoles, the PS5 Pro includes a pre-installed copy of Astro's Playroom.

All existing PS5 games will run on PS5 Pro, many with performance improvements. The console will also be backwards compatible with PS4 games, and some titles will take advantage of the improved hardware. You can find a full official list of all PS5 Pro enhanced games through the link.

Can You Trade PS5 or PS5 Slim for PS5 Pro?

While nothing has been announced just yet, it's likely that some stores will offer trade-in options for PS5 Pro. We'll check with various retailers to try to get a better understanding of their plans, and we'll update as soon as we have more information.

Will There Be Enough PS5 Pro Stock at Launch?

It would appear so. At the time of writing, pre-orders for the standard model of the PS5 Pro are still available, several days after first going live. More stock will arrive at other retailers from 10th October 2024 too, so you should be able to get your hands on one.

This is gonna be a rough launch with how much it is and cheap Sony is being with the disc drive and vertical stand….

Well, this is about as nasty as it gets. Won't be participating, but just a heads up to people, Playstation Direct has a tendency to run out of stock on accessories. If you are sure you are gonna preorder this and know you are gonna want the disc drive attachment, I'd pick the drive attachment up now as those might go out of stock if their other item outages (RIP Edge stick module stock) are any indication.

At one point, the change rate between $ and € in the game industry went from 1:1 to 1:1.14
Before, 60$ games were sold at 60€.
Now, 70$ games are sold at 80€, and 700$ consoles at 800€.

I have no idea when exactly it happened (but it's recent) and why. Does anyone have any insight on this?

@Olmaz Xbox is only really popular in North America, so Sony still has to compete there.

Where as Xbox is completely irrelevant in Europe.

I'll be the first (and maybe only) in line!

@Jaz007 I agree, the price is a bit steep. But try building a PC with the same specs. Not gonna happen.
People want Sony to sell it at a loss, which is totally in line with how childishy demanding the consumer base have become. Again, if you can build it yourself, do it. If not, then realize that even though its a steep price, its the best deal your gonna get for those specs

How to preorder:

Step 1: Find an organ you don't need

I will be looking forward to more information 😉

So with “extras” like a disc drive and vertical stand I’d be looking at over £800! No, I won’t be preordering this.

I think even the scalpers will be rubbing their chins over this.

I’m good, it would be so sweet if Nintendo announces their next console soon to bounce off the negativity of the PS5 Pro 🤣🤣

I thought this article was going to be job interview tips and stuff.

@Futureshark looooooool 🤣🤣🤣🤣 they’ll be like “nah too risky”

@Haruki_NLI Step 2: If Step 1 isn’t enough, join OF.

why does £699 = £699

@trev666 It doesn’t. Just pure greed, and/or Brexit. 🫢

@TrickyDicky99
I do wish Xbox was far more popular in Europe
If that’s the way Sony are playing it.

the PS5 Pro Is $700 the Disc Drive is $79.99, and the Stand will be $29.99 without tax added to each item sold separately grand total is $810 after tax I'm probly looking at close to $900.... so that is a big Oh! Hell, No I'm not Preordering this not until Sony wakes the hell up and lowers the price down.

How to pre-order:

1. drop your pants
2. Bend over

🤣

@Mustoe Really tho? The Pro has an equivalent card of around rtx4070 level. Youre saying for a few hundred dollars more you'll get what a 4080 or 4090? I mean, doesnt the 4090 cost like $1500 by itself?

And also, when comparing with building a PC, dont factor in the disc drive, cause thats not something u would get when u build a PC.

And btw, ofcourse u can get better specs if you spend more money. But how does that fit the argument that the PS5 Pro is too expensive? U can spend 2000+ and have better graphics than the Pro, thats true, but that still makes the Pro better value for that price point with those specs

@OldGamer999 Xbox recently announced the same series X, but with 2TB and without disc drive for $600. Great deal? I think ur idea of Xbox saving the day in Europe might be a bit overblown

@Mustoe If you're going to make a like for like comparison then the base price is what should be used.

Until we get some benchmarks, the assumed GPU comparison on paper right now is the equivalent of a RX 7700 XT, that card alone is £400. CPU on the base PS5 without the new clocks was comparable to a Ryzen 5 3600, that's roughly £76. So with the remaining £223 you need a case, power supply, ram, motherboard, 2tb of ssd storage, fans and cooling, an operating system, and a keyboard and mouse or controller to play anything on it.

If you have something comparable in the PC space for that price, that will be optimised specifically for gaming as a console is, I'd love to see it.

@kyleforrester87

Okay, you got me with this one.

700 for digital only console is crazy 😭 was thinking if it not too bad price might grab one as few ps games wanna play but deffo not at that price 🤣 think il see if there's some cheap standard ps5s going once these release though 😎

@LogicStrikesAgain The problem isn’t a high price, the problem is nickel and diming me for basic features with a high price. It’d be better to make it $750 and include the entire package than try to make a profit off of them,

@danzoEX Step 3: If you have no functioning organs and are too ugly for OF, sell your physical copy of Concord to a collector.

"It's a bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for them."

@Mustoe You're telling me $1000 for a similar specced PC is better value than a $700 console with the same specs?

Well, it might be, but i think the ease of use will always be a plus for some people

I think people who throw in the fanboy card, are usually themselves fanboys btw

I thought we were having a discussion about worth, im bringing up points that dont have anything to do with being a fanboy. Im looking for a pc with those specs for $699 and i cant find it...

@trev666 @VeldinX Remember the US price doesn't include tax.

Have people calmed down to realize that they... GASP... don't have to buy it and aren't being required to?

Step 1: sell a kidney.

@LogicStrikesAgain
I don’t think Xbox will by the way.
It’s a Sony and Nintendo world now.

Removed - disrespecting others

Sony are absolutely out of their mind, 950€ for this nonsense if you have a physical collection, which I assume most on here do.

I'll just stick with what I have, thank you very much.

This “how to” missed a fundamental step.

Step 1. Sell a kidney.

Technically the Pro is cheaper than a lot of people paid for a launch PS5. I can't see scalpers being able to double the retail price of one of these though.

@ButterySmooth30FPS A lot of those who are angry obviously want one, but they also want Sony to take a significant loss on each one made so its more in line with what they want to pay 😂

@get2sammyb

Well true, however taxes go from around 10% all the way down to 2.x %. Do the math 800€ is still very steep.

So we get effd hard by Sony.

Well the 1tb SteamDeck is £600 and that's garbage in comparison to the Pro so I'm probably still buying but I'll admit it's a bit steep.

Step 1: sell your kidneys
Step 2: sell your house
Step 3: take a loan
Step 4: start a savings account
Step 5: pre-order a PS5 Pro
Step 6: you forgot the disc drive...
Step 7: time to sell all of your other property as well

@OldGamer999 I do agree that its better to have Xbox for the competition tho... But i dont see them doing so much better frankly.

Although i think a lot of this pricing issues dont have that much to do with greed per se.
Its just inflation and ever increasing prices of processors and gpus. As said before by someone, we will probably not see the deflationary prices in consoles again like before.

Just look at high end smartphone prices, they used to be like 8 or 900 some years ago for the top phones. Now the Iphone 16 Pro Max is gonna cost almost $1500

Just ordered a disc drive. I'll be on the look out to order from Amazon. Would be nice if the console covers were ready for launch. I need a Volcano Red one.

@NoHope Yep, the conversions do seem to get worse and worse.

Conversions are all over the place. So disc drive is $20 less but the vertical stand is $5 more?!?!?

Step 1: Don’t

(Just buy the standard version)

I'm trying to understand why they went with 2TB? If they had gone with 1TB it could have been $100 cheaper and we would be having a very positive conversation.

Smells like Vita memory.

@Tecinthebrain Damn, thats a good point! Thats a fumble right there

Enjoy

@LogicStrikesAgain nice to see someone with a brain

@Tecinthebrain hahaha. No, everyone would be complaining its $600 and only comes with 1TB.

This launch is laughable. What is sony doing lol smh

USD 700 is around IDR 10,832,000 (More than 10 million Rupiah) in my country Indonesia. 😳
That's very expensive price.
Btw, how many Watts of PS5 Pro electricity consumption?

Jeez, this is why I don't bother with PS much any more, folks get so worked up over everything!

It's either worth it to you or it's not. It's not for me at £700 but for anyone who gets one, hope you enjoy it. Not much more to say, really.

@Pranwell haha. Sony made sure to build in all marginal returns promoted with the original ps5. I guess it's fine/ish if you didn't own a ps5 yet.
I miss the old kaz printing money gif days.

So little upgrades with such a high price, thanks Sony

I’m taking the $700 and putting it towards upgrading my TV from a 55” to 65” LG C3. Happy with my launch PS5 and already have a PC.

How to pre-order a PS5 Pro:

Don't.

Thank all the people who paid $700+ for their launch PS5 from scalpers for the Pro's pricepoint.

Not sure what to do.
Really need digital foundry to get hold of one and test a few upgrade games.

My TV a Sony and when using my Switch and set correctly fine turning etc.
The Switch looks better and is very smooth a sort of switch 1.5. It’s amazing what a top end tv can do with the settings fine tuned.

The only way this thing sells out at launch is if Sony deliberately restrict stock levels to maintain the narrative that the pro is a high demand item.

It will be interesting how transparent they are with sales numbers or if they do another psvr2 and keep those figures close to their chest. Either way, we’ll know how successful ps5 pro has been.

@OldGamer999
Ive had Sony TVs the last 2 that ive had - the latest being 4k 120hz VRR etc. You hear differing opinions, but ive always thought they are very, very good for Games, and good too for upscaling lower res tv programs.

I see the article got updated with Amazon and Walmart affiliate links. Never let a controversy get in the way of scoring a commission, makes sense.

@Rich33
I have Sony mini led x95l 65” and the upscaling and motion control settings using the Switch have outstanding results.

Also the best tv program upscaled and motion smoothing I have ever seen.

@OldGamer999
Yeah, mine is a slightly different model and a little smaller (due to space), but i have played around with those 2 settings quite a bit for each of my inputs to get the best results.

Funnily enough, one of my main interests in the Pro is the PSSR, partly because of how well they seem to understand this area - eg TV / general upscaling in PS5 games.

I wonder if Sony is going to launch a version with the disc drive included in the future

How to pre- order PS5 Pro:

Don't.

@CyborgToaster Oh yes most definitely, here are a few quotes of the average console consumerbase lately:

"We want new IPs"
"Why dont they experiment more"
Gets new IP
"This is terrible"
"This is too woke for my sensibilities"
"Too much diversity"

"We are tired of sequels"
Proceeds to ask
"Wheres the next Killzone?"
"Gimme Resistance 4"
"Bring back Sly Cooper"

"Astrobot, more like MarioCopybot"

"No more remakes"

"Make single player narrative games"
Followed by
"Boring, this is a movie"
"Sad dad sim"

"Why do games take so long to develop"
When games get released early:
"Why is it full of bugs, refund!"

"Why sony close Japan studio?"
Meanwhile nobody bought those games

"The Pro is useless"

"We want more power, PS5 cant handle some games"
Gives option through PS5 pro
"No, too expensive"

"Oh, they made that character gay? Lets boycot the game"

"Lets harass this voice actress because we dont like something in the game"

"I dont want to sign up on PSN to play this game, even though every other publisher asks the same, meh!"

These are just some from the top of my head.

Ofcourse i'm paraphrasing, but you guys get the drift

@kyleforrester87 "I thought this article was going to be job interview tips and stuff."

Didn't Sony say, "Get a second job to buy the PS3"? 😜

How to actually preorder:
Don't ever.

@Zuljaras my man again ❤️

@LogicStrikesAgain Actually it's been common practice for Sony and MS to sell consoles at a loss (It's called a loss leader) to establish and gain market share. profits come from software.

It's not an uncommon practice in certain industries.

@MightElf-69 You think selling the the Pro at a loss is a good strategy? Strategies like that are most suited when you expect to sell large volumes

How to pre-order ..... Take out a mortgage , sell the clothes off your back and sell everything you own.

I am one of the few who think the price is reasonable but should have that disc drive included. Personally, I think they should have upgraded the CPU as well and could have justified $800 with a disc drive.

I wish there was a custom RSS feed without PS5 pro and guides... And make it without and game as a service news while you're at it.

Does anyone know what time pre orders open on PlayStation Direct in the UK?

I want one for myself and worried about scalpers already.

Removed - trolling/baiting; user is banned

No, $700 is NOT expensive for the newest console technology. I’ve had a PS5 since launch. I paid $535 with tax included. Right now I can sell it to GameStop for $350. That means it’s only cost me $185 for the last 4 years to have the latest gen console. That is 89 cents a week. Let’s explore this further. I’m buying a pro. The pro plus disc drive will cost me $835 and I plan that it will be relevant for 4 years. That is $1370 - $350= $1020. In the end it will have cost me $2.45 a week to have the newest console technology for 8 years. That is less than a cup of coffee a week. It’s less than going to the movies once a month. If you think $2.45 a week for multiple hours of entertainment is “expensive” then I can’t help you. But I can recommend a financial advisor.

@CupidStunt Scalpers are the scum of the earth. According to this article it will be 10am local time in the UK.

@CupidStunt 10am, according to their X account mate.

In my area it was listed at $840 and sold out online in less than a minute. Offline pre-orders sold out in about 30 minutes.

Will there be an edition without the rainbow?

Meh, I pre-ordered. If I sell my completely unused series X and my ps5 it's only a few 100 AUD more. I'm hoping it's justified whilst play hitman on the psvr2. Any added resolution or frames is appreciated.

You know you European readers here there is more then UK and US.

It’s 2:02 EDT right now and PS network keeps signing me out. Is anyone else having problems staying signed in right now?

@Olmaz Sales Tax is not included in the 700$, it's included in the 800€.

Preorder waiting list is online, sell should start at 10. Good luck and you´r welcome.

PRO Anni will be 1099€

It says the queue is paused already lol. Is this for the regular Pro or just the anniversary?

Queue is moving but I'm over an hour away to getting in and I joined around 8:30ish!

Still hopeful of securing one but looking unlikely - guess it depends how much stock Sony allocated for the UK.

Still showing as in stock, got it in my basket and trying to pay but get a repeated 'something went wrong' message.

EDIT: and now kicked out after 10 minutes since my queue number has expired. Amazon it is in a couple of weeks.

Still in the queue and it’s dropping quickly. Perhaps that means stock has all gone and it’s speeding up as people get into the store and then abandon their spot once they realise. Will see soon.

Edit: Was able to pre-order a normal PS5 Pro no problem at around 11:05. Email confirmation came from PS Direct at 11:07. I chose "continue shopping" and got bumped back to the queue, which says it is now only 8 mins. (time of writing, 11:09).

@AndroidBango I lucked out as managed to get in and bag myself a Pro and a controller. After I posted, my waiting time just jumped to ~12 mins.

Think it's getting worse now - as had other sessions and couldn't even log in!

@StrickenBiged I was on literally a few mins ago and they still had stock available. That's the UK site BTW.

Hopefully you be OK. Good Luck.

Ive just got off PS after pre ordering a standard 30th controller and a 30th Portal. They still had standard pros available.

@SoulReaper-72 Thanks, was all good. The system worked!

system worked great I hag logged into the queue system on hold at 8.30am, around 10am onwards got the count down, then I was in, logged in and added the ps5 pro, then spent 20 mins working out why the *** I could not complete my purchase!

So on the payment and address page it asks for your password!!!!!! unless you input into the box the authorise button don't get enabled!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

@SoulReaper-72 Just got back in and managed to get one (at 11.26). Phew!

Got one! and an anniversary edge.
Scalpers already selling the bundle for 6k on ebay.

@nicc83 as of right now - 29 listings on eBay ranging from £3,999 to £9,999 !

I really hope people see sense and don't give into these scalpers but I imagine some will.

Really wish Sony had actually made more 30th editions or, as others have said, offered the covers separately.

Just managed to grab a PS5 Pro, waiting for the confirmation email now.

Edit: Got the confirmation email at around 3pm.

@harvy2001 I had a really weird issue as on my mobile it was asking me to add payment details. I knew already had my card on file (checked this the other day) but wasn't showing.

Tried to re-add but then was told - it was already there. Panicked a little but fortunately I had another session going on my laptop - and managed to secure my order that way.

Managed to get one , now I just need to find 700 quid 😂😂

It's going to be really interesting to see how many units Sony will have sold, especially given the (justified) backlash around pricing

Managed to get a pro but I really wanted the anniversary one. £960 though woooosh

The standard P5Pro is now sold out in the NL PSdirect store. Pretty good for a cosole that no one wanted.

I missed out on the 30th edition but bagged a pro. Good luck everyone.

@SoulReaper-72 it is stupid. But if they're stupid enough to pay scalp prices, they deserve to be ripped off.
I've already said I would probably scalp if I had managed to get a pro bundle. A 5k profit would be too much to pass on

Cool I got mine. Any idea how can I get a Disc Drive also?! PS Direct is out of stock..

@nicc83 I’m guilty of calling them stupid. But I guess they pay what they feel it is worth to them and so I can’t really judge.

A kid starving in Africa would think a base PS5 was a stupid purchase.

I think of those city traders who spent £60k on Diablo Immortal, and to them that was no more costly than me buying a costume in AC Odyssey.

Had some initial teething problems as it would t complete. Persevered though and was able to get my purchase in (UK).

@Tatarimokke I would check other retailers. I'm in the UK and can see that some still have the disc drive in stock.

9 / 5 000
Ordered

Got a standard one, im not bothered about the 30th anniversary one. Ive got a can of grey primer😄. Im looking forward seeing GT7 & Demons Souls. Ive still got Alan Wake 2 to start as well. Cant wait to see how Vampire Survivors looks too!

UK PS Direct still have white PS5 Pro left.
No queue at all now.

Maybe that price and small game advantage is not winning people over.

Any news about EU preorders?

The US line is currently 'paused' after I was down to 12 minutes but that was just for a random place in the overall queue that starts at 10 eastern. I'm in it for the anniversary pro or nothing. Good luck everyone!

Got mine, console, drive and stand. Looking forward to November.

Would’ve been great to get the 30th Edition but with only a tiny quantity being made, we had no chance.

Secured mine!

How to Pre-Order PS5 Pro

  • sell 1 kidney
  • wait for bank transfer
  • go for preorder.

Grrrr. I was already in the site and they bumped me back out and now the waiting room says 1+ hours!! What bull!

Edit: And now the "Add to Cart" button doesn't work... what a mess...

Queued for three hours - finally got in - 'not currently available'. That's limited edition for you!

@wildcat_kickz Exact same thing happened to me.

@casualURGENCY Totally sucks! It's like we're being penalized for being on time...

Got my Pro (not 30th) in the US!

@Tatarimokke They come back regularly. PS Direct in the UK was out of stock for a couple of days after the PS5 Pro was announced a couple of weeks ago, but it was back in stock yesterday when I was making sure I was logged in so I made sure I picked one up.

Congrats to all of you who managed to get your hands on what you wanted!

Swedish sites listing pre-orders:
1030 USD - PS5 Pro (regular edition).
1535 USD - PS5 Pro (30th anniv. Ed.)

Not getting one atm. Wonder How long before a substantial price drop? Probably a long time.

I was wrong. Thought they were sold out. Just pre-ordered one. I went back in the site just now and was able to get one.

Don't need a guide, because I don't plan on getting fleeced.

@Solingo_Bill I mean, why? You're just paying them for the Concord bomb.

@StrickenBiged @SoulReaper-72 Thanks for the info! I just found one at Currys:)

@Dodoo sounds like my typical Friday night 🥳

I passed on the chance to pre order gambling that either GameStop or Amazon will have trade in deals

@ButterySmooth30FPS Then you can change your name to "ButterySmooth60fps" 😁

@ThunderFunk I couldn't agree more; however I like to think of it (and any purchase) in a slightly different way:

If you make $X per hour; and a product costs $Y; simply take ($Y / $X) and ask yourself if the product will provide you value that is greater than the effort you spent for those hours.

This is a personal equation, and will change dramatically depending on what your income is. If you make $15/hr, its a hard sell for nearly 48hrs of work. If you make $30+/hr, it becomes a much better value proposition.

@eagletrippin We'll see come November! It's a dream of mine to finally level-up in this life.

I just had an email from PlayStation saying that stock was available (UK) and it is as I’m typing this - stand and disc drive are out of stock but the Pro itself is available

FYI UK PS5 Pro standard back in stock (at time of this post) - probably got approved from a larger allocation as the UK is a big market for PS.

PS Direct currently has no queue in the US and PS5 Pros are available.

I didn't even bother trying to pre-order, I'm in alot of debt and I just lost my job 3 weeks ago.

My Spider-Man 2 PS5 ought to last me until the PS6 is on sale, 4 years after whenever it launches.

Was able to pre-order on Direct UK 10 mins back.

Yeah looks like they're still available on PlayStation direct @get2sammyb

I wasn't going to bother but I checked Best Buy in Canada and lo and behold, snagged one, now I need to have enough in my account come the beginning of November...lol...

Looks like everyone pretending this is a crappy upgrade tricked the scalpers into not wanting to get involved. Great job everyone, you can stop faking your hatred of the PS5 Pro now.

now I just need to find a disc drive for less than 200 bucks...sheesh...lol...

@MikeOrator I’m in Canada. I noticed Best Buy has been posting them on and off for the last couple days. I picked one up yesterday.

@LogicStrikesAgain except the PS5 Pro will be irrelevant in 2-3 years. It's only super power is that it plays PS4 games. Unless you're really into Demon's Souls....s PC still has the utility of being a computer, and your Steam account will always be available to you so long as you have a computer. So even if your hardware becomes outdated, you still have access to your full library. $700 +$80 + $30 + tax and then PS Plus minimum of $80.... you can definitely build a PC that's not a potato for a similar price. Just sayin.

Edit: also, the 4070 comparison is laughable. While I love AMD, their tech just isn't on the same page as Nvidia. I have the 4070ti and it dusts my PS5. The PS5 Pro isn't that big an improvement over the PS5

@8bitOG have to disagree.

The Pro will be the prime console for a good 3 years, and still run all the latest games for another few years after that, despite what will be a hideously expensive PS6 hitting the market.

Generations are dead. The Pro will last far longer than even the PS4 Pro did, and that had a record generation overlap period as it was.

The 4070ti is a good card but a rig with one of those and an appropriately powered CPU is almost double the cost (before we get into arguments about monitor, KB, mouse, desk, chair costs if someone is considering a move to PC versus buying a Pro).

Furthermore, the 5090 is almost upon us. With all the journalists, YouTubers and developers rolling one of those, their clown world garbage optimisation will be based around a £2000+ card.

I’m expecting my 4080 Super to be coughing up blood within a year, as struggles to run games with trash tier optimisation. Hence why I bought a Pro as it’s a far less trouble, safer bet.

@CrashBandicoat yeah, I didn't build my rig to hit the $1000 mark. I built it to hit the 3k mods in skyrim mark. But I did build a wonderfully competent pc for someone at around $1200 after tax with 4TB of storage. The CPU and GPU aren't top of the line, but with all the other components I used they're easily replaceable for future upgrades. That machine easily has more value that the PS5 Pro imo. But, I'm also a bit more technically inclined than the average plug n play gamer. So, if you think that the Pro and whatever PS Plus package you have is worth it - more power to you. I'm genuinely happy for you. My point was more that your Steam library transcends hardware and will be just as good 20 years from now as it is now, regardless of what machine you operate it on.

Edit: also, the PS4 Pro is very much still relevant. Almost all "next gen" games have been dumbed down so that they can be played on the PS4. Which pretty much renders the PS5 gen as obsolete. For the record, I own and love my PS5 but wish I had saved my money. The lack of games and Sony pulling some seriously shady moves made me jump to pc
