YouTube users on Android are facing two playback bugs
by Rishaj Upadhyay · Android HeadlinesYouTube has been rolling out new features and updates for its users on Android and iOS quite frequently. More recently, the latest update for the YouTube app revamped the playback speed control interface. While it’s a welcoming change for YouTube users, the latest app update appears to be triggering two annoying playback bugs.
YouTube’s latest app update on Android is triggering two annoying playback bugs
If you are not experiencing these bugs yet on your YouTube app, consider yourself lucky since many users have reported it online. The first bug triggered by YouTube’s latest app update is related to the picture-in-picture (PiP) mini-player which isn’t allowing users to access it conveniently.
A Reddit user (@a1200i), in his post, points out that when trying to place the mini-player on the right side of the screen, it goes off the screen. Looking at the comments, we can tell that many users are experiencing this issue. You can check the problem highlighted in the screen recording attached at the end.
If that sounds concerning, there’s more. The second bug prevents users from resuming the video until it’s been expanded to the fullscreen view. A Reddit user (@zomby_c) highlighted this issue by posting the screen recording. In addition, the user mentioned that this issue has been present for a few days now. Similar to the previous issue, many users appear to be facing this one as well.
Uninstalling the latest app update might fix these issues
These bugs are reportedly affecting YouTube app users on Android. Folks over at Android Authority tried replicating the bug using the latest available update for the YouTube app but were unsuccessful. So, it’s possible that Google may have stopped rolling out the buggy update.
It’s worth noting that we have come across a post by another Reddit user (@AncientCreators) who claims uninstalling updates apparently fixes this issue. If you are also experiencing the above issues, try uninstalling the latest app update and see if it works.
