Apple debuts new MacBook Pro with M4 Pro and M4 Max, MacBook Air gets double Memory

To round out Apple’s three days of Mac announcements, the company has just unveiled the new MacBook Pro powered by the new M4 series of chipsets. It also has an announcement for the MacBook Air.

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the MacBook Air is not getting the M4 upgrade just yet. Instead, Apple is doubling its RAM to 16GB at the baseline for both M2 and M3. That means the M2 MacBook Air now starts at 16GB of RAM for the same $999 price. While the M3 model starts at $1,099 for 16GB of RAM now.

While getting M4 on the MacBook Air would be really nice to see, its a bit too early to see M4 on the MacBook Air. After all, the M3 version just launched earlier this year. However, doubling the memory is definitely a good move, and this is likely due to Apple Intelligence. Which does need a good bit more memory than just macOS.

MacBook Pro now comes with M4, M4 Pro or M4 Max chips

Of course, the bigger update here is for the MacBook Pro. Which now comes with either the M4, M4 Pro or M4 Max chip, and it also starts at 16GB of unified memory.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 starts at $1,599, while the M4 Pro starts at $1,999, and the M4 Max model starts at $3,199. And the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro starts at $2,499, and the M4 Max at $3,499. A maxxed-out MacBook Pro would still cost $7,199, and that includes 128GB of unified memory, 8TB of SSD storage, and also the upgraded M4 Max chip, which has a 16-core CPU and a 40-core GPU.

Apple has now also brought its Nano-texture display option over to the MacBook Pro, which will cost you an additional $150.

Like all of the other Mac announcements this week, pre-orders are open right now, and the new MacBook Air and Pro will both start shipping on November 8.
