A top mechanic has warned motorists and road users over buying cheap parts from the Far East for their motors. Scotty Kilmer, a go-to source of knowledge for road users, motorists and drivers up and down the country, has spoken out on YouTube.

“Today I’m going to tell you why it’s not a good idea to buy cheap Chinese aftermarket electronic products for your car," he said. “If you’re thinking about buying a stereo system like this and all it says is ‘car entertainment system made in China’, no name, no nothing, my advice is go elsewhere.

“Now I test some of this crap out so you don’t have to. I attempted to put this in my wife’s car. Took it all apart, put it in and guess what? It wouldn’t connect to the speaker system of the car even though the company said it would.

“They said this adapter would fit, it didn’t fit. They said it worked for this 12-speaker system but it only has connectors for six. As you can see this box is not just collecting dust so if you don't want to waste your money, listen to what I have to say and do a little research before you buy any of these aftermarket products that are made in China.”

A viewer replied saying: "Huh. I bought a dash camera that Scotty recommended. It's a total POS. My brother just bought an upgrade for his dash display from China. It works way better than the one that originally came with the car. It's just like finding an honest mechanic...it's mostly luck."

"I believe China can produce good quality products, but right now it is 80% bad quality and 20% good quality and is totally up to us to continue buying or not," a second said. And another chimed in to say: "I have that exact stereo system in my Tahoe.

"The big issue I had with it was it the power it takes to operate. That thing requires more than the standard so you have to kind of bring it around at a extra off and on button I don't hate it but it is kind of slow. I have a Windows launcher running on it."
