Amazon fans praise dehumidifier which is 'cheaper than putting the heating on' for drying clothes

Dehumidifiers might be a bit pricey, but they're a cost-effective solution for drying clothes, getting rid of window condensation and removing excess moisture in the home. And now Amazon is selling a 12L dehumidifier that's been highly praised by shoppers, with one customer claiming it's 'cheaper than cranking the heating up' for drying clothes.

The online retail giant is currently selling the energy-efficient Meaco MeacoDry ABC Dehumidifier, which costs roughly 3p an hour to run, for £159.99. This gadget touts low power consumption and optimised energy usage, making it affordable and practical for daily use to keep condensation problems at bay.

The dehumidifier uses significantly less electricity than tumble dryers, featuring a dedicated laundry mode that operates for six hours before automatically switching off to conserve energy and your money. It also includes a handy function where you set the desired humidity level and it will turn itself off when this target is reached, only turning back on when it senses a rise in humidity, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The Meaco MeacoDry ABC Dehumidifier can be used in any room to eliminate condensation, warm up the air and prevent damp walls, odours and mould. More than 5,300 Amazon customers have reviewed this 'quiet and efficient' gadget so far, giving it an overall rating of 4.7 out of five.

One happy customer praised the appliance with high regard, sharing: "Dries a full load of laundry within six hours. I've had this for coming on two years, it's brilliant for the damp UK winters where it's impossible to dry anything. Put this in a room on laundry mode and come back to dry, fresh clothes. Cheaper than cranking the heating up."

Another contented user remarked: "I'm very impressed. Easy to set up, quiet and it's doing a great job. We should have bought one years ago. We live in an old house and have damp walls - the machine is delivering 12 litres of water a day and the room smells much better. 100% recommend."

Yet another added their voice, stating: "The amount of water this machine has pulled out is astronomical. I can honestly say we have not had one drop of condensation since using it. We also have a smart meter and can see that it doesn't use a lot, despite being on 24/7. I am so impressed and extremely glad I bought it. I told my parents about it and they have now bought exactly the same one, for the same reasons. They are also equally impressed and over the moon with the difference it has made."

A few customers did remark on the product's portability issue, with one noting: "It has no wheels which makes it less easy to move."

You can buy the Meaco MeacoDry ABC Dehumidifier 12L for £159 on Amazon now. Amazon also has this small CONOPU Dehumidifier 1000ml reduced to £39.32.

Elsewhere, B&Q is selling this Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier with Built-In Humidistat for £169.99. Dunelm's 12L Electric Dehumidifier costs £120. While Asda has this Daewoo Dehumidifier 12L for £105.
