If you’ve been wanting to step your racing game system up a gear but have found the price of force feedback racing wheels just a bit too much for your liking, you’ll be wanting to pay close attention to this Logitech G29 / G920 racing wheel deal. With a massive 37% discount off their MSRPs, both wheels are currently at their lowest price on Amazon in years.

As two of the best racing wheels you can buy, these Logitech units may well be many years old but still make for solid entry level options into the world of force feedback racing rigs. So, if you want to finally feel the bumps in the road and your cornering G force while racing, these discounted wheels could be the ideal place to start.

The Logitech G29 and G920 are all but identical other than the former is adorned with Playstation buttons while the latter has Xbox buttons. However, while the guts of both wheels are the same, the G29 does add a couple of extra features that make it the better buy if you’re just looking to use it on PC. Above the steering wheel is a rev indicator while below the center of the wheel are a selector dial and +/- controls.

Both are what are known as gear-driven wheels, rather than belt or direct-drive wheels. These are the cheapest types of wheels with the least force feedback power and accuracy but that’s why these are $200 wheels and not $500 wheels. Moreover, the feedback you get is still great for making a start at feeling your way around a race track.

Inbuilt clamps on the wheels make them easy to affix to your desk, so you can quickly setup for racing and pack down again. The wheels also incorporate rear paddles for shifting gears along with all the usual controller-style buttons for navigating your games.

Both wheels also come with a set of pedals that, unlike the very cheapest racing pedal sets, includes three pedals, not just two. This sturdy pedal set lets you accelerate, break, and declutch to shift gears and, again unlike really cheap pedals, it stays securely planted so doesn’t slide away from you as you get aggressive.

Logitech has recently come out with the G923, which adds a feature called TrueForce that lets the wheel tap more directly into the physics engines of some games, for a more realistic force feedback. However, the difference is subtle and the newer wheel is otherwise largely unchanged  from these older models yet it costs $299.99, making the $190 of these wheels right now an absolute bargain by comparison.

Buyers in the US can follow this link to grab the G29 or this link to grab the G920 while buyers in the UK can also save a huge amount on these wheels, with the G920 costing £170 via this link and the G29 costing the same via this link.
