2025 Toyota Camry launched in Australia – D-segment sedan gets 2.5L hybrid, three variants; from RM116k
by Mick Chan · Paul Tan's Automotive NewsThe ninth-generation (XV80) Toyota Camry has now been launched in Australia, where the D-segment goes on sale solely with a hybrid powertrain, as in Singapore where it went on sale last month. This model has also scored five stars in the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), where it put in a record showing of 95% in the adult occupant protection category.
Powertrain for the Australian-market Camry is the fifth-generation Hybrid Electric powertrain that produces 231 PS, comprised of a 188 PS/221 Nm 2.5 litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with a 136 PS/208 Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor. This powertrain drives the front axle via a continuously variable transmission.
Three variants feature for the Australian-market Camry; these are the Ascent, Ascent Sport and the range-topping SL. In latest ninth-generation form, the Camry measures 4,920 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, 1,455 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, making the new car 35 mm longer overall, and its luggage capacity has increased seven litres to 500 litres.

Standard equipment on the 2025 Camry starting from the base Ascent variant includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, DRLs and rear combination lamps, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.
The Ascent Sport is the next variant in the range, adding higher-grade LED headlamps and tail lamps, LED foglamps, while inside it adds an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a wireless smartphone charger and an upsized, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Topping the range is the SL variant, which is identified on its exterior by 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels of a new design, rear side and back privacy glass, while also adding automatic rain-sensing wipers and heated side mirrors with reverse and memory functions.
Inside, the top SL variant adds leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, front seat heating and ventilation, a heated steering wheel with power adjustment, and a nine-speaker JBL audio system.
Exterior colours for the 2025 Camry in Australia are Glacier White, Frosted White, Silver Pearl, Liquid Mercury, Eclipse Black, Jasper Red, Precious Bronze and Saturn Blue.
Pricing for the 2025 Toyota Camry in Australia starts from AUD$39,990 (RM115,702) for the Ascent, from AUD$42,990 (RM124,382) for the Ascent Sport and from AUD$53,990 (RM156,208) for the top SL variant.
