Xbox shoppers can get Series S console for free after PS5 Pro launch

Those who missed out on Sony's mega PS5 Pro launch could bag a free Xbox Series S if they pick this Microsoft backed freebie - as we'll tell you exactly how to bag it

Last month thousands of keen gamers queued up to try their luck at bagging Sony's newest console, the PS5 Pro. Amid soaring demand the pre-orders sold out within minutes but those who lost out may want to cast their eye at rivals Xbox and get a Series S console for free.

Don't get us wrong, the Series S is outdated and clunkier compared to Sony's upgraded PS5 Pro however a current lesser-known tech deal cuts the price from £249 down to £0. And it's all thanks to Virgin Media.

The provider is offering an Xbox console to those who sign up for specific TV and broadband plans this week. Shoppers have from now until October 13 to pick a plan and walk away with Xbox or £250 in bill credit for no extra pennies, and here's exactly how to do it.

Virgin Media is giving new customers the choice of the two freebies - a free Xbox Series S or £250 bill credit - if they buy either of these plans; The Bigger Movie Combo, Bigger Combo + Sports HD, or the Mega Volt package all of which tie shoppers into a lengthy 18-month contract.

Saying that, there are huge streaming perks to the packages (on top of the freebies). At £60.99 per month the Bigger Movie Combo bundle is the cheaper per month and ideal for film fans - it comes with M125 Fibre Broadband, 11 Sky Cinema TV channels in HD and more than 200 regular TV channels.

Next up is the Bigger Combo + Sports HD, this has the speedier M500 Fibre broadband and gives fans access to Sky Sports channels in HD and again, more than 200 normal TV channels - so, not only do viewers get the choice of bagging a free Xbox console they don't have to lock into Sky's longer 24-month TV plans.

Then there is the Mega Volt package, and at £84.99 per month it does live up to its namesake. With M500 broadband, more than 200 TV channels, an unlimited O2 SIM this package is for both sport and cinema fans and is includes both of the popular Sky channels...all in HD.

Behind the Xbox Series S compact design and Xbox Velocity Architecture - this sounds fancy but essential a type of processing speed that helps boost loading times, will help users switch seamlessly between multiple games, loads more rich worlds, and processes frame rate of up to 120 FPS.

As we mentioned above, one major benefit to this Virgin Media deal (apart from the free Xbox) is the plan length, as shoppers are tied into a short 18-month contract opposed to Sky's longer 24-month plan. However, this does come with an added cost.

Sky are not currently offering hundreds of pounds in ill credit or a free Xbox console but their prices are slightly cheaper. For instance the 300 Full Fibre broadband and Sky Stream TV plan is £40 per month.
