As the winter season draws near, homeowners are seeking cost-effective methods to enhance their heat in their homes. A new TikTok video shared by Which? has become a hit online, demonstrating a simple and cheap yet effective heating trick that claims to make rooms "twice as warm".

The method involves placing aluminium foil on the wall behind radiators, which helps to bounce heat back into the room rather than letting it escape through external walls. According to the video, radiator reflector foil can be bought for around £8.

Which? commented: "It's padded and usually has an adhesive backing so it's really easy to install.", reports the Express. However, for those on a tight budget, kitchen foil works is said to work just as well at only £1.50.

To apply this hack, you simply need to measure the distance between the brackets on their radiators and cut the foil to size. If the foil doesn't have an adhesive backing, double-sided sticky tape can be used to secure it in place behind the radiator.

One TikTok user praised the effectiveness of this hack. They stated: "My family has been doing this for ages; it heats up a room twice as fast and it STAYS hot."
