With the launch of the Galaxy S24 FE, Samsung has released all of its major 2024 handsets. But the discount season is just getting started and the Korean company has kicked it off with a major Galaxy Z Fold 6 price cut.

The foldable phone has received its biggest straight money-off deal yet, which knocks $300 off the device without a trade-in. That brings the 512Gb model down to $1,717.99 from $2019.99, and the 256GB variant to $1,599.99 from $1,899.99. This deal only applies to the “Crafted Black” and white colorways.

Despite the big discount, the device is still wildly expensive. That can change if you have the right handset to trade in because Samsung has boosted its prices for old phones. The top price available is $1200 for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max right behind it with a $1000 valuation.

We can take these prices as a bit of marketing because no sensible person is trading in a Galaxy S24 Ultra, which launched this year, for a Fold 6. The same goes for the flagship phones launched last year. But that isn’t the full story because Samsung is offering some very competitive prices for much older phones, check out the list below.

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G - $600
  • Google Pixel 7a - $600
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro - $600
  • Google Pixel 5 - $450

These are surprisingly decent figures for Google Pixel phones, which are often left out in the cold when it comes to trade-in prices. But $450 for a Pixel 5, which is no longer supported with security updates, is a great deal.

You will also notice that Samsung is offering more for comparable Apple handsets with regards to Galaxy phones, which might be down to the fact that Apple doesn’t have a foldable phone on its books. The Korean company has long courted iPhone owners and a shiny futuristic foldable phone—with high prices for your iPhone—is a clever way to do it.

If you’re planning to buy the Z Fold 6 but the timing isn’t right for this sale, there will be countless more discounts before the end of the year. Samsung has engaged in repeated sales throughout the year as it aims to claw market share from rivals and embed more people into its lucrative AI ecosystem. That means making the hardware as affordable as possible.
