HMD Skyline Android 15 Tests Shows Lower Scores

by · Nokiamob

Although Nokia models like the Nokia XR21 and XR30 are expected to receive Android 15, the first devices to get the update may come from HMD. HMD started testing Android 15 on the Pulse series and continues to test it on the Skyline and Fusion models.

Recent Geekbench tests on the HMD Skyline running Android 15 do not show performance improvements compared to Android 14. The same holds true for the HMD Fusion (Business Edition). While Android 15 introduces better CPU management, optimized resource allocation, improved battery efficiency, and smoother RAM handling, these upgrades have resulted in slightly lower single-core and multi-core scores. However, these are early tests, and HMD may improve the scores before the final release.

Thermal and GPU performance should also improve, allowing the device to sustain high performance for longer periods and handle graphic-intensive tasks more efficiently. While the Geekbench results may not show better single and multi-core scores, Android 15 offers better optimization and efficiency than Android 14. Hopefully, users won’t experience lag.

It remains to be seen how the update will affect the XR21 and XR30, which run on older chipsets. SiliconITHub did a nice overview of all the important changes Android 15 will bring, so check it here. You can always check the developer edition A15 changelog.
