In the coming 12 months, several major automakers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia and Skoda are gearing up to introduce new compact SUVs in India

The highly competitive compact SUV segment in India is poised for a wave of new releases next year. Major automakers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia and Skoda and Nissan, are preparing to launch new or updated models, aiming to capture a larger share of this lucrative market. Here is a sneak-peek of the upcoming launches:

1. Skoda Kylaq:

Skoda is set to debut its new compact SUV, the Kylaq, in March 2025. Built on the heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform, the Kylaq will share numerous components with the larger Skoda Kushaq. Powering the SUV will be a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is expected to produce the same 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque as seen in the Kushaq.

2. New Hyundai Venue:

By mid-2025, Hyundai is expected to launch the second generation of the Venue, with production set to begin at the recently acquired Talegaon facility, formerly owned by General Motors. Internally codenamed Q2Xi, the 2025 Hyundai Venue will likely feature notable upgrades in terms of design and technology. However, the model is not expected to see significant mechanical changes, keeping the current engine and drivetrain options largely intact.

The Kia Clavis, internally named and potentially branded as the Syros in its production form, is expected to launch in the first half of 2025. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s lineup, the Clavis is likely to share the Sonet’s engine and transmission options.

Its distinct SUV design will draw inspiration from the globally recognized Kia Soul, while offering features like a large touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), sunroof, and more, enhancing its appeal in the competitive compact SUV segment.

The facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is expected to arrive by mid-2025, with speculation pointing towards the inclusion of a long-rumored strong hybrid petrol engine. While Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that a hybridized engine is in development, the official launch timeline remains under wraps. The compact SUV coupe might be the model that debuts this new hybrid powertrain, offering improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions, further solidifying its position in the competitive compact SUV market.
