The Indian compact SUV market is poised for an exciting transformation in 2025, with the anticipated launches of the Skoda Kylaq and Kia Syros. These new entrants promise to blend style, innovation, and performance, catering to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. As demand for both petrol and electric variants continues to rise, Skoda and Kia aim to strengthen their foothold in this segment. Let’s delve into what makes these SUVs stand out in the bustling sub-4m category.

1. Skoda Kylaq – Early 2025

Skoda is gearing up to make its mark in the compact SUV segment with the introduction of the Kylaq, set to launch early next year. This marks Skoda’s inaugural venture into the sub-4m category, built on the MQB A0 IN platform shared with the Kushaq and Slavia.
Expected to unveil on November 6, the Skoda Kylaq has been spotted testing on Indian roads several times.

While the latest spy images lack clarity on intricate details, it’s reasonable to expect that the Kylaq will incorporate several iconic Skoda design features, including the distinctive butterfly grille and a split LED lighting arrangement at the front.

True to Skoda’s design philosophy, the side profile of the Kylaq will feature a clean and understated look. It is expected to come equipped with 16-inch all-black alloy wheels. The initial teaser has also unveiled T-shaped LED taillamps and a fresh “SKODA” badge prominently positioned in the center of the tailgate. Additional visual elements include black roof rails, a sunroof, blacked-out pillars, and an upright bonnet, enhancing its stylish appeal.

The Kylaq will also feature Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to enhance safety. Under the hood, it will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, striking a perfect balance between performance and fuel efficiency for urban driving.

2. Kia Syros – Early 2025

Kia is set to unveil the Syros, an exciting new compact SUV positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, with a launch anticipated in early 2025. Recent spy shots of the Syros showcase an innovative two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a design not yet seen on any Kia vehicle in India. This new style appears to draw inspiration from the K4 sedan, which debuted globally earlier this year, as well as other recent international Kia models. The steering wheel will feature an offset Kia emblem.

Interior images also reveal dual displays reminiscent of those found in the Seltos, likely consisting of a 10.25-inch touchscreen alongside a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Moreover, the Syros will include a selection of physical buttons beneath the touchscreen, featuring a scroll wheel for volume adjustment.

The Syros is expected to feature two petrol engine options, emphasizing impressive fuel efficiency, with estimates around 18 kmpl. Already spotted in testing, this model aims to strike a perfect balance of style, practicality, and advanced features, catering specifically to urban consumers seeking a modern driving experience.
