In a bid towards electric mobility, Maruti Suzuki recently revealed its first electric car, the e Vitara at an international event in Milan, Italy. This marks the company’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market. The e Vitara is based on the eVX concept shown at the Auto Expo 2023. According to media reports, production of the car will start in April or May 2025 at Suzuki’s electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Design

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is built on the new HEARTECT-e platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). This platform is lightweight, helping to improve performance and energy efficiency.

It also has a short overhang, which creates more space inside the car. Additionally, Suzuki has increased the battery capacity by redesigning the floor to make room for a larger battery, removing parts under the car to create a smooth space for it. The cabin is packed with features including dual screens, ADAS, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, etc.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara ALLGRIP-e Electric 4WD System

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara stands out with its electric 4WD system, called ALLGRIP-e, according to reports. This system uses two separate eAxles at the front and rear to give better control and handling.

It also has a Trail Mode, which helps the car tackle rough terrain by braking spinning wheels and adjusting torque when needed. This feature could give Maruti Suzuki an advantage in the EV market, especially for drivers who want a versatile vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Battery and Range

In terms of battery, the e Vitara will come with two battery options, including a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh, available worldwide. It’s not yet clear if both options will be offered in India. While the exact range is not confirmed, the e Vitara is expected to provide about 400 km on a full charge.

The 49 kWh battery will provide a peak power of 142 bhp and a max torque of 189 Nm in the 2WD version, while the 61 kWh battery increases power to 172 bhp and offers up to 300 Nm of torque in the 4WD version.
