Amazon's Big Deals day is here, and naturally includes plenty of Amazon's own brands that have been slashed in price for a limited time only - including the Fire TV Stick, and even the 43-inch Fire TV itself.

If you're eager to stream hundreds of thousands of films and TV show episodes at an unbeatable price, Amazon has you covered, as the 43-inch, 4K Ultra HD 4-series smart Fire TV has been reduced to almost half-price, down from £429.99 to just £229.99, saving you a whopping £200.

And even if you're not ready to splash out on a brand new TV, don't worry - you can simply buy the latest model of the Fire TV Stick, complete with Alexa voice control, for just £16.99, a saving of over 60 per cent from its usual retail price of £44.99.

Both devices come with FireOS, meaning they are packed with all your entertainment in one place - from streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video, to free catch-up platforms like BBC iPlayer and ITVX, and even video games and music apps like Spotify.

However, with the Fire TV Stick, you don't need an Amazon Fire TV to access all these apps - you can simply plug the small, dongle-shaped Fire Stick into any TV with an HDMI port, and these services and streaming platforms will appear on your screen.

Both the Fire TV and the Fire Stick come with Alexa voice control, so you can give voice commands to search for and launch your favourite apps, films, and shows, as well as checking the weather or sports scores.

The benefit of a Fire Stick is that you can also continue to watch regular TV when you're not using platforms such as Netflix or Prime Video. You can also do this with the Fire TV, but only by connecting a live TV source, like a digital antenna, to your device.

However, the 43-inch Ultra HD Fire TV brings your favourite films and series to life in brilliant, vivid 4K, with Dolby Digital Plus sound, bringing scenes leaping off the screen in vibrant and clear colours that are even brighter than 1080p full HD.

The Fire TV also features three HDMI inputs that allow you to connect not only to satellite TV, but also to set up your video game consoles, or even extra audio equipment for enhanced sound.

Meanwhile, the newest Fire TV Stick is 50 per cent more powerful than the previous generation, released in 2019, bringing you not only Alexa Voice Control, but also faster streaming in Full HD.

Amazon Prime members get unlimited access to hundreds of thousands of films and TV episodes with their Fire Stick, even without having a Fire TV. And the Fire Stick is simple and intuitive to set up, and can easily be hidden behind your TV for less clutter.

The 43-inch Amazon Fire TV has garnered a 4.3-star rating, with over 1,100 reviews. One person described it as the "best TV I've ever bought", writing: "Works great, easy set-up, amazing colours."

Another added: "Excellent TV, great value. Easy to set up and use. Excellent picture quality. Love all the apps. Now want one in every room."

And a third wrote: "Got a complete surprise, the TV is fantastic. The picture, sound, and the internet connection all in one, and for the price it's definitely worth getting."

However, a couple of shoppers noted the TV can be slow to start up when turned on, with one commenting: "Takes a while to turn on and warm up. Can sometimes struggle to connect to WiFi and needs a minute to sort itself out. (Don’t we all!)"

As for the Fire TV Stick, this boasts a slightly higher 4.7-star rating, with more than 100,000 reviews.

One buyer was "absolutely delighted" with their Fire Stick, writing: "It was installed in no time, and up and running with no messing around. Amazon have made it REALLY EASY to sign in to apps with an existing subscription. I love love love it.

"The unit itself fits into the HDMI port with a good stable fit. The remote is tidy and easy to use. Wonderful, five stars plus. So glad I choose Fire Stick instead of the other brands. Well done Amazon!"

And another posted: "The Amazon Fire TV Stick is an amazing device that has transformed my TV experience! It's incredibly easy to set up and gives me access to a vast selection of streaming services and apps.

"The Alexa Voice Remote is a game-changer - just press a button and ask Alexa to find your favourite shows or control the TV. The interface is smooth, and the picture quality is excellent. This device is a must-have for anyone looking to upgrade their TV's smart capabilities. Highly recommended!"

However, as with the Fire TV, a few shoppers pointed out the Fire Stick can be "slow to react", with some noticing the device is prone to "glitching".

If you're looking for an alternative brand of television, the Toshiba 43-inch QLED 4K TV is also included in the Amazon Big Deals day sale, with 25 per cent off - down from £239 to just £179.

And in the world of smart remote controls, you could bag this SwitchBot Universal Remote Control for £47.99, down from £59.99. The SwitchBot Control not only works on Fire TV and Apple TV, but can also control infrared appliances such as air conditioners, lights, fans, and projectors at home.
