Cars launching this October: Kia EV9, BYD eMax 7, New Carnival and more

In October, five cars including the New Kia Carnival, Kia EV9 and others will be making their debut in the Indian market. Let’s check them out.
Kia EV9
Kia will launch the EV9 electric SUV along with the Kia Carnival as its new flagship offering in India on October 3. The new Kia EV9 is offered with a 99.8kWh battery pack that will offer an ARAI-certified range of 561km. It will have all-wheel drive capability with a dual motors (one at each axle) producing a combined 384hp and 700Nm.
The EV9 will be available with a 6-seater layout as standard. The second-row seats will be captain’s chairs and have features like electric adjustment, massage function, and adjustable leg support. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). It will compete against other luxury electric SUVs such as the Mercedes EQE SUV, BMW iX and the Audi Q8 e-tron.
New Kia Carnival and Kia EV9
The Kia Carnival and Kia EV 9 will be the first to arrive in the Indian market with an launch date of October 3. This is going to be an luxurious model with seven seater option. It will be available in two varinats- Limousine and Limousine Plus. The Kia Carnival new model will be equipped with a 193hp, 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. It will be paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It will initially come to the market as a CBU unit and will be priced over 50 lakh.
It is noteworthy to mention that the previous model was discontinued last June.
Nissan Magnite facelift
On October 4, Nissan is set to launch a facelifted version of the Nissan Magnite. It will be the first time the Nissan Magnite will receive an update. Though, Nissan has not confirmed the design update yet, the test mule was spotted with a reworked front bumper and grille, and reprofiled headlamps with new LED daytime running lamp signatures. Meanwhile, the company has confirmed new alloy wheel design for the facelift. Inside the cabin, the design will also be tweaked. It will be limited to new trim pieces and some additional features. The car will come with the existing 1.0-litre petrol engines that produces 72hp, 96Nm in naturally aspirated unit and the 100hp, 160Nm in turbo version. It will be offered in 5-speed manual and AMT, and the CVT gearboxes.
BYD eMax 7
The eMax 7 is a facelifted version of BYD e6, which was launched as the company’s first model in India in 2021. The electric MPV will launch on October 8. It will feature a new headlamps and tail-lamps and new bumpers with more chrome elements. It will be updated with a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, panoramic sunroof and an ADAS suite. The BYD eMax 7 will be offered in 6- and 7-seater configurations. Internationally, the eMax 7 gets two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420km and a 71.8kWh unit with 530km range, but it’s not known which spec will be brought here. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 30 lakh-33 lakh (ex-showroom), and take on the Toyota Innova Hycross.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The sixth-gen long-wheelbase E-Class (V214)will launch on October 9 and is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 80 lakh. It will rival the recently launched BMW 5 Series LWB. The new E-Class is considerably larger than its predecessor, and a lot more techy on the inside, especially with its superscreen layout. Under the hood, two 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines will be on offer: a 204hp turbo-petrol and a 197hp diesel. Both engines get 48V mild-hybrid systems, and come mated to a 9-speed torque converter sending power to the rear wheels. A point to note is that none of the variants will get air suspension at launch. Deliveries for the new E-Class will commence by the end of October.
