Skoda Kylaq: Price, features, bookings, deliveries, all important details
Skoda has announced the price of only the base variant of the Kylaq as of now.
by India Today Auto Desk · India TodaySkoda Auto India launched its first sub-4 metre compact SUV, the Kylaq, on November 6. Based on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform, the Kylaq is the carmaker's third locally developed model after the Kushaq and Slavia.
The Skoda Kylaq price starts from Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), with the full-price list to be revealed later. Bookings for the Kylaq will begin on December 2, with deliveries to start from January 27, 2025.
Based in the fiercely-competitive compact SUV segment, the Skoda Kylaq will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
Talking about dimensions, the Kylaq is 230mm shorter than the Kushaq. The Kylaq measures 3,995mm in length, 1,783mm in width, and 1,619mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,566mm, which is 85mm shorter than that of the Kushaq and a ground clearance of 189mm.
Powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which produces 115bhp and 178Nm of torque, the Kylaq offers both 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic. Skoda claims that the Kylaq can reach a top speed of 188kmph and accelerate from 0-100kmph in 10.5 seconds with the manual transmission.
Built on Skoda's Modern Solid design language, first introduced with the Skoda Elroq, the Kylaq showcases bold character lines throughout. It features a glossy black grille with 3D ribs, replacing the traditional Skoda's radiator grille. The front also sports a bold lower spoiler with aluminum accents. The front features a fascia that integrates the LED DRLs with a black grille element. The headlamps are positioned lower on the front. The Kylaq leads the segment with a 446-litre boot capacity.
The Kylaq's interior closely mirrors that of the Kushaq, featuring a familiar layout with similar air vents, touch-based climate control, an 8-inch instrument panel and a central 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The compact SUV brings several segment-first features, such as six-way electric, ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger.
Among others, the Kylaq features a single-pane sunroof, keyless entry, wireless smartphone charging and integration, as well as a cooled glove box. Select variants get cruise control, and steering-mounted paddle shifters with the six-speed automatic. Leatherette seats are available, with a choice of single or dual-tone interior design.
The Kylaq comes equipped with over 25 active and passive safety features as standard. These include six airbags, traction and stability control, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), brake disc wiping, rollover protection, motor slip regulation, electronic differential lock, passenger airbag deactivation, multi-collision braking, ISOFIX child seat mounts.
