Your PayPal balance will soon be viewable from within Apple Wallet on iPhone, iPad and Mac, starting with the United States.
Apple announced the upcoming PayPal integration with its Wallet app in a press release published ahead of Apple Pay’s forthcoming tenth anniversary.
“Next year, customers in the United States will also be able to see their PayPal balance when using their PayPal debit card in Apple Wallet, giving them greater visibility and confidence when shopping,” it wrote.

No further information was provided. Apple also announced today that Apple Pay installment loans from Klarna are available in the United States and the United Kingdom when checking out with Apple Pay in apps and on websites.
The Wallet app currently supports showing balances for participating cards. Only Discover credit cards are eligible for this feature in the United States.
iPhone owners in the United Kingdom can connect cards from Bank of Scotland, Barclaycard, Barclays, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, MBNA, M&S Bank, Monzo Bank, Nationwide, NatWest Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander or Starling Bank to view account balance from within the Wallet app.
Apple could also be working on showing bank balances in Wallet by directly interfacing with financial institutions instead of using open banking APIs.
Apple Pay celebrates its tenth anniversary
Apple Pay debuted on October 20, 2014 in the United States as Apple’s mobile payment service available on iPhone. Apple Pay head Jennifer Hailey reflected on the tenth anniversary by sharing her thoughts on one of Apple Pay’s coolest features, Express Transit Mode, which lets you pay for transit rides by tapping your iPhone on an NFC terminal without Face ID authorization.
One of my earliest memories of realizing how Apple Pay was positively impacting consumers’ lives was when we rolled out Apple Pay for transit in Tokyo, which is used by millions of travelers every day. I watched in awe as people quickly tapped their iPhone or Apple Watch to pay while passing through the turnstiles—no need to fish out any cash, cards or coins from their wallets or even unlock or wake their device.
It does work like magic.
It’s a great example of how Apple Pay’s seamless and secure customer experience delivers convenience and peace of mind to consumers around the world, whether they’re commuting to work, shopping online or picking up their morning coffee.
I’ve been using Apple Pay since it hit Europe. It has been one of my top-rated iPhone features to date. I’ve stopped carrying cash and physical cards because of the convenience and the security of Apple Pay. Plus, there are contactless terminals everywhere in Europe, so it’s not like there are places that don’t accept Apple Pay.
