Seattle Times staff picks for Seahawks hosting Dolphins in Week 3

by · The Seattle Times

Here are score predictions for the Seahawks’ Week 3 game against the Dolphins at Lumen Field from The Seattle Times sports staff.

Week 3 vs. Dolphins

Mike Vorel (2-0)

Seahawks 24, Dolphins 20: Don’t chalk this up as an easy win just because Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa won’t be under center. Miami still touts a talented roster and has nine days to prepare. But the Seahawks defense (and an enthusiastic crowd at Lumen Field) will present enough problems for backup quarterback Skylar Thompson, while Seattle QB Geno Smith will again make the plays when it matters most.

Bob Condotta (2-0)

Seahawks 24, Dolphins 16: Before Tua Tagovailoa was sidelined this figured to be the first real test of how far the Seattle defense has progressed under Mike Macdonald. Now the game is harder to read. But assuming there’s some drop-off in Miami’s offense, this feels like a golden opportunity for the Seahawks to get to 3-0.

Matt Calkins (1-1)

Seahawks 24, Dolphins 21: A Tua-less Miami team makes for another underwhelming favorite, but no one in Seattle is going to complain. Look for another solid outing for Geno Smith and for the first-place Seahawks to remain unbeaten.

Scott Hanson (0-1)

Seahawks 24, Dolphins 16: Seattle gets a break not having to face Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. That, and playing at home, should mean another win.

Week 2: Seahawks 23, Patriots 20 (OT)

Vorel: Seahawks 21, Patriots 13

Condotta: Seahawks 21, Patriots 17*

Calkins: Seahawks 20, Patriots 17

Hanson: Patriots 17, Seahawks 14

Week 1: Seahawks 26, Broncos 20

Condotta: Seahawks 27, Broncos 17*

Vorel: Seahawks 24, Broncos 17

Calkins: Broncos 21, Seahawks 17
