Pundit makes 'nasty' Stoke City and Derby County prediction as Rams seek first away win
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveEFL pundit Sam Parkin feels Derby County will secure their first away win of the season at Stoke City but believes it will be a "nasty" Championship encounter.
Paul Warne's side head to the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday, hunting their first Championship away win of the season against a Stoke side that are under new leadership in the guise of Narcis Pelach.
The Rams go into the game unbeaten in four games and on the back of three successive 1-1 draws while Stoke are winless in five league and cup games and lost 3-2 at Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Derby's last visit to Bet365 ended in a 2-1 win under Wayne Rooney back in 2021, and Derby would dearly love a repeat as they aim to build on a solid start to the campaign.
Former Swindon striker Parkin, now an EFL pundit, believes Warne's side will secure the three points they are searching for, but it won't be a classic.
"I’m thinking it’s going to be a bit tight. And I think there’ll be the odd sporadic away victory for Derby this season. And I’m going to go for it here. I’m going to go for Stoke 0, Derby 1. Nasty game, settled by a set piece of some description.”
