Roy Keane reveals next career move as pundit cites court case in major decision

by · Birmingham Live

Roy Keane, the Manchester United legend and former Aston Villa assistant boss, has hinted at a potential move abroad in the near future.

Keane, who claims an illustrious history with United under Sir Alex Ferguson, amassing numerous prestigious accolades, parted ways with the club in 2005 and subsequently joined Celtic after initiating his professional stint at Nottingham Forest.

Post-retirement, he took up managerial roles at Sunderland and Ipswich Town before segueing into punditry - now a regular face on ITV and Sky Sports. He also had short assistant manager spells at Villa in 2014 and Forest in 2019.

But in an episode of The Overlap podcast filmed in Turin, Keane disclosed to Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville and Ian Wright his aspirations to relocate abroad - possibly to a tranquil destination like Switzerland.

"In the next couple of years, I reckon I will be moving abroad... putting it out there," Keane said. And in response to Carragher's inquiry about his potential new home, Keane added: "Do you know what, Switzerland, maybe? Switzerland is beautiful."

In August, Keane had expressed a desire to eventually bow out of punditry altogether within the next decade.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, he revealed his frustrations at the role. He explained: "I love football, but the hassle of matches, getting to games, and the hassle of fans – I was in court a few months ago with somebody head-butting me – do you think I enjoy that side of it? Absolutely not.

"The games are fine. Getting to the games, parking up, people shouting your name – good stuff, bad stuff – it's a nuisance. Being a pundit in 10 years, not," reports the Manchester Evening News.
