Chris Davies hailed Birmingham City’s comeback kings after they again fought from behind to beat Lincoln ‘after the worst possible start’.

Bailey Cadamarteri scored after 34 seconds but Blues levelled inside 14 minutes through Keshi Anderson. Willum Willumsson put Blues ahead just after half-time before Anderson made the game safe late on.

Blues maintained their lead at the top of the League One table with an eighth win in nine matches. Thirteen of their 25 points have been secured from losing positions.

“It was an excellent result, an excellent performance," said Davies. "We have been talking a lot about the starts we have to games and it was the worst possible start. Again, it was something so simple, but in fairness it was over in the blink of an eye and we got on with the game. It was like the Wrexham game in that sense that it came so early.

“I thought we dominated the ball, had good structure throughout and used the ball well. Lincoln don’t concede many goals and we’ve scored three and could have had a couple more.

“I said to the players afterwards that I felt towards the end of the game, you’re away from home and 3-1 up, there was a steeliness about us and I think there’s a growth there. Sometimes you are never quite sure but I can see us growing and we looked quite strong and composed in how we were seeing the game out."

The nature of Cadamarteri's opener irked Davies. For the second league game running Blues conceded via a long throw-in.

Davies added: “I always say to them that football’s never perfect, things go wrong all the time, you have to react, react and react again. Thankfully they did that. We have to reflect on that and what we can do better. We’ve defended set pieces well this season but there’s been a few lapses so that’s something we’ll have to look at.”
