BBC Breakfast reporter struggles to contain laughter at tattoo of West Brom star

by · Birmingham Live

A reporter could barely hold in their laughter at a guest's tattoo. BBC Breakfast journalist, Mike Bushell, travelled to Scarborough for a report about Scarborough Athletic football club.

He chatted with former Champions League winner and ex-West Brom player Jonathan Greening. The football star now helms Scarborough Athletic and talked about his move into non-league football and his roots as a ball boy at the old local team.

Speaking to Mike, he said: "I used to go and watch the old club at the McCain stadium with my brothers and my dad... and used to be ball boy there. Obviously it hit hard times and it's so nice to be back at this football club."

Coach Jimmy Beadle then joined the interview. Mike said: "Jonny, one other thing. To be part of your management team, do you have to have a tattoo of you on your arm?"

Jonathan smiled and said: "You do yeah, it's part of the process." A clip of Coach Jimmy's forearm then displayed a tattoo portrait of the footballer and the inscription 'Jono Greening is my mate'.

Mike observed: "This is Coach Jimmy who has got a tattoo, look... of Jonny." Jonathan said: "Good looking chap there, right there."

The tattoo also featured the gates of the old Scarborough club grounds and gates, a nod to Coach Jimmy's own history with the club as he scored the last goal for the old Scarborough club at their former ground, as well as the first goal for the new club, The Mirror reports.

Jimmy said: "I've got the tattoo of the old gates, the old stadium there on that other arm as well. Yes, it's something I'm proud of really." Not bad for a fat lad having that little milestone for the club."
