Mike Tyson could be set for sensational rematch against old rival after Jake Paul fight

by · Birmingham Live

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has hinted at a possible rematch with his old adversary, Mike Tyson. Tyson, now 58, is due to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on November 15 at the ATandT Arena in Arlington, Texas, in front of a potential crowd of 90,000.

The pair were originally set to fight earlier this year, but 'Iron Mike' had to withdraw due to an ulcer flare-up. The boxing legend has since returned to the gym and is confident he'll be ready for the bout next month.

However, there are concerns for Tyson's health as he recently confessed to struggling to walk after training. His last professional fight was nearly 20 years ago when he was defeated by Kevin McBride, although he did participate in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr four years ago.

Tyson is often hailed as one of the greatest heavyweights in boxing history, having beaten the likes of Marvis Frazier, Trevor Berbick, Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Frank Bruno at the height of his career. Yet, one of the few who managed to outdo him was Lewis.

Back in 2002, Lewis and Tyson faced off in a memorable match, with the British boxer emerging victorious by knockout in the eighth round, thereby retaining his WBC, IBF, IBO and Ring heavyweight world titles. Now, over two decades later, 'Iron Mike' is potentially looking to even the score, and 'The Lion' hasn't dismissed the idea of a rematch, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to TMZ, Lewis said: "Let's see how he makes out in this fight first. I have spoken to Mike, just about fighting. Let's hope his health is ok. You can't see things on the outside that may be affecting you on the inside. I wouldn't want to say he is okay then all of a sudden something happens."

Boxing enthusiasts are questioning whether 'Iron Mike' is taking the potential fight seriously following a surprising revelation. During a recent conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, the 58 year old stated that he was training for six hours a day.

"I am training extremely hard, I do six hours a day. I start at 11am and might leave the gym at 5pm," he shared. A shocked Kimmel asked: "Oh no. 11am? So that's six hours straight, or is there a lunch break? " The former heavyweight champion admitted there was a small break, leaving Kimmel further surprised: "Oh no."

In the same interview, when asked if he plans to be under the influence during his bout with Paul, Tyson responded: "I'm going to be so high off life, yeah."
