Liverpool have started the new season in fine form with the Reds sitting at the top of the Premier League standings.

The Merseyside club have 15 points this season out of a possible 18, with their only defeat coming against Nottingham Forest.

Despite some of their players facing an uncertain future at the club, they have performed well and showed that life after Jurgen Klopp is not as difficult as it looked.

Along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has entered the final year of his contract at the club.

All those players can enter pre-contract agreement negotiations with other clubs in January.

However, according to Football Insider pundit Paul Robinson, the Dutch centre-back will sign a new deal at Anfield and extend his successful stay at the club.

He said:

“I can’t see a reason why Liverpool wouldn’t extend Van Dijk for another year if he wanted it. From what I hear, that will happen.”

Van Dijk has shown once again that he is one of the best players in the world in his position.

The Reds have only conceded two goals in the Premier League this season and his partnership with Ibrahima Konate appears to be working well.

Virgil Van Dijk has been rock solid for Liverpool this season

The Netherlands international is a leader at Liverpool and they would not want to lose him in the near future considering the club is going through a transition period right now under a new manager.

The Liverpool star has shown consistency this season to show the club that they need him more than he needs them.

Van Dijk has turned around the fortunes of the club since moving to Anfield and he still remains one of their most important players.

The Reds face Bologna in the Champions League next while in the Premier League, they travel to struggling Crystal Palace next weekend.
