Locals in the NFL: Kyle Van Noy runs sack total to 4 in 3 games with Ravens' 1st win

AROUND THE SHIELD — Three weeks ago, Kyle Van Noy waited 12 minutes for medical care with an eye injury. The Baltimore linebacker heavily criticized the Kansas City Chiefs and their medical personnel for what came to be a fractured orbital bone.

The former BYU defensive star opted to drop his complaints this week after a number of outspoken posts on social media platform X and a podcast interview. Van Noy said that he was "just focused on the Raiders" and "excited to potentially play," according to ESPN, before a 26-23 loss to Las Vegas.

By Sunday, though, his focus was well placed.

Van Noy had two sacks and a pass defended as the Ravens (1-2) limited Dallas to a pair of field goals through three quarters before holding on against the Cowboys for their first win of the season. It's his second straight game with two sacks, giving the 33-year-old BYU alum four on the year.

For perspective, that's almost halfway to the nine sacks Van Noy accounted in 14 games with the Ravens a year ago. Prior to then, he hadn't accounted for more than 6.5 sacks in his 13-year NFL career with Detroit, New England, Miami and the Los Angeles Chargers.

And on Sunday, Van Noy was portraying a different message than his eye injury on social media:
