Kildare GAA: Naas book SFC final spot after extra time

Dramatic win for the county champions

Naas booked their place in the 2024 SFC final after a dramatic extra time win over Athy this afternoon.

Athy led by one at half-time 0-6 to 0-5.

In a dramatic second half it was Athy who forced extra time with a Liam McGovern free.

Naas lost Alex Beirne on thre 48minute with a second yellow.

In extra time Naas upped their game, despite a man down Naas and led by one at the break. However in the final half it was the champions who dominated hitting 2-4 to Athy's point, to clinch in on a final score line of Naas 3-13 Athy 1-9.

Meanwhile Caragh booked their place in The Auld Shebeen Athy IFC final with two point win over Rathangan.

It was a game Caragh dominated in the first leading at the break 1-10 to 0-4, the goal coming from Jake Corrigan.

Rathangan were a changed team on the resumption and gradually cut back the lead but with 59 on the clock still led by four points but a late goal from David Murphy cut the lead back to two but the final whistle arreived with Caragh holding on winning 1-15 to 1-13.
